So how do I draw LoS from the Stormtalon's weapons?

Especially the turret seems to be so "high" that its weapon cant really draw LoS to ground targets unless I model the Stormraven in such a way that it is angling down.

Same goes for the chin weapon, tbh. It is "looking forward", i.e. it shouldnt be possible to draw an imaginary line at 45° down to the ground, as that in no way represents the bullet flight path from the gun's nozzle pointing straight ahead.

Ideas?

You draw LOS like normal. Limited firing arcs for weapons is just how the game works, a Stormraven (I assume you mean that one because of the top turret) sometimes has problems getting LOS to a target just like a LRBT's sponson weapons have firing arcs that are worse than a Land Raider's.

In practice what this means is that a Stormraven can only fire at targets that are far enough away that it can see them, and will struggle to shoot effectively at anything up close. Keep this in mind when making your movement choices.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I think he is referring to the Heavy Bolter/ Assault Cannon on the front of the Storm Talon. In which case, you need not worry, you have 360 degree firing arc around. However, I believe you still are restricted to the 45 degree arc up and down. So you would have to stop short to shoot units in front, and fly past to shoot units behind you.

7th Edition Tournament Record:

15-2

War in the Mountain GT: Best Overall, 6-0 Dark Eldar

Bugeater GT: 4th, Tournament Runner Up, 5-1 Dark Eldar

Wargamescon: 7th, Best Dark Eldar. 4-1

No I was referring to the Stormraven. But yeah, I had forgotten about the 45° fire arc and was thinking of a straight line. Cheers for clarifying.

So I'm guessing its like the 2nd picture on the right of page 72 (Lemand Russ hull mounted fire arc) except you need to think of it as a cone, i.e. it the 45° can also be applied vertically etc.

Don't forget, when properly assembled and sitting on a equaly properly assembed base the stormraven is pointing down slightly.

This is because the storm talon was originally designed (by the adeptus mechanicus) to 'do a barrel roll' when firing at ground targets. Unfortunately this is now a lost art to the adeptus astartes pilots.

Talon has great arcs. Raven, you just need to use the turret to fire port or starboard shots. It's only the front arc that is restrictive.
