I'm embarking on starting Bretonnians, and was wondering whether GW would allow for non-GW models to be used in their store, if the model in question had no corresponding GW model (I'm thinking about trebuchets)? Surely if they're not going to provide for units in their own books they can't have a go if someone else does?

While technically there was a model for the trebuchet for a long time, it isn't on the website anymore, not sure why.

That said, to answer your question, it really comes down to the people at that particular store. Bring it up with them and ask.

Google their warrior's code. It will tell you that, officially, they don't allow models from other manufacturers.

In practice, even at Warhammer World tournaments, they've been cool... As long as you don't shove rival stuff in their face they're ok with it. We ran ymgarls with chapterhouse heads at a Throne of Skulls.... Ad it ended up in their display case for the weekend.

Best bet to be safe it to try and incorporate GW parts, so that every model has some GW bits in it.

Or buy the rest of your army at that GW store. I guess it depends on how much you want to play at that store, but if I was a manager, I'd be much more inclined to let slide the odd non-GW model, if the guy using it spent £250 at my store the other week. And I guess whether or not you're known at the store makes a difference too.

Yea, i'd agree with The Shadow, if you're a regular at your local GW shop and you have large GW armies I'd imagine the manager would look favourably on you. That said don't rub their noses in it though.

I've been a regular at my local GW store for a very long time, and the manager still doesn't allow non GW models in the place. It isn't about you, it's about the manager and how finicky for rules they are.

My local GW store does not allow non GW stuff. All depends on the store manager and how strict with the rules they are.
