So I have heard that both Custodians and Thunder Warriors are superior to space marines but if these two forces were to fight who would win in a 1vs1 match.
1st Round: All there normal equipment
2nd Round: No equipment

A Thunder Warrior is apparently strong enough to outright rip a Custodian's spine out of his body.

Really?

Where is that in the fluff (not trying to call you out I am genuinely curious sounds like it could be a cool battle to read about)I have a soft spot for Thunderwarriors and I haven't heard that before but it sounds like TWs fought Custodes before?

Strong enough, very possible.

The question is if he is skilled enough. The Custodians are supposedly the very best, while Thunder Warriors are not necessarily elite in comparison to Marines skillwise.

The Custodian also has good gear (Artificier armour afaik, coupled with a Guardian Spear)

In the book referenced (outcast dead), I recall it being a world eater, who rips out the custodes' spine.

Said world eater is later on owned by a degrading thunder warrior.

That book is pretty damn awful too.

That is an easy question. The Icelandic Coast Guard would win.
They've already beaten Britain three times!

Really, it is impossible to say who would win. There are too many factors involved and there is too much uncertainty about the combat capabilities of the custodes/thunder warriors.
Besides that, they are no match for the Iceland Coast Guard. They have no less than 4 ships! And they are armed with a 40mm gun! None can stand before such awe-inspiring power!

On moon miranda.

Not enough information is available either way. The Thunder Warriors almost extinct by the time the Space Marines come into existence and are completely gone by the time anything relevant to the WH40k universe occurs (e.g. after the outset of the Great Crusade), while the Custodes play no role in the 41st Millenium that we can examine and before/during the Heresy we have no direct comparison to Thunder Warriors but only to Space Marines in a handful of engagements. They likely also are built around completely different kinds of engagements and battles, making the circumstances of the fight also likely very important.

TL;DR who knows?

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Yeah, it was ...
Spoiler:

Tagore specifically, all around nice guy. He threatens to rip out his spine, then does it. Uttam was the custodes name, Tagore takes him, completely unarmed, and there's a MMA style fight, ending with a punch through armor and spine ripping.

Even though the book is pretty much garbage, I always felt it's a good example of different legions skill sets being employed, I mean a rag tag band manages to survive escaping from the worst prison on earth, and wreck stuff along the way. Outcast dead had potential, and I normally like McNeil's stuff, it just missed the mark all over the place IMO. It's pacing, is excellent though.

IIRC, there was something nuts in one of the HH books where a Custodes threw a Predator tank, so I wouldn't be sure about the Thunder Warrior winning a fight.

So dare I ask what happens if he farts? Could it blow the seals on the lower portion of his armor? Or is a space marine's system immune to such mundane fluctuations of bodily conduct?

If we had a dispute about an Iron Warrior Terminator tossing a predator, then it must have ended with you simply being wrong, because that's what happened.

Let's keep it on topic guys. No arguing in the thread.
I'd probably say a Custodian, he's a lot faster than the Thunder Warrior and as far as I'm aware the Thunder Warriors were prone to going nuts, they also had weak spots (like MKII SM armour), their legs were unpowered and they overheated. I'm not sure what weaponry they had though. However, as for round 2 I doubt a Custodian could punch through a Thunder Warrior's armour.. They're pretty crazy good.

If we're talking locked in a cage 2 men enter 1 man leaves style then I think Custodes should take the first round with all equipment to hand. The tech they are equipped with is simply far superior to that of the Thunder Warriors in both effectiveness and reliability. Custodes are also trained to fight as individuals, whereas I think it is safe to assume that the Thunder Warriors were trained to rely on comrades in the same way as the Astartes.

Round 2 would be more interesting. From the "Outcast Dead" it sounds like the Thunder Warriors were superior physically to the Astartes, and without any weapons or armour I think it would be a very close fight. I'm not sure who I think would win this round.
