Great work on the skulls. Now you just have to be vary careful cleaning up the overspill on the black - good luck & can't wait to see more.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

It looks good.

I think it could use more skulls though.

Looks great! I'm currently working on my own Lord of Skulls conversion. Any tips or obstacles you've come across in the painting?

My biggest tip is to KNOW how you are going to paint it before putting it together. There are some places that will never see the light of day once assembled. I am painting it while putting it together.

I have more complete, but these are the latest photos I have taken. More to follow.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Here is the main body assembly. The spine cover piece did not go on flat. I wish there was a brace or somthing on the inside to help hold the sides in place. The treads aren't exactly flush on the ground.

It's looking great so far. I like your colour scheme. What chapter/affiliation are you making yours to? Are you doing any conversion work on it?

I have a 95% idea of how mine will be painted, and I've been putting pieces together with blue tack etc. to see how they will fit together and what will be paintable and what won't be.

Spoiler:

Here is mine. The standard and the skull gun aren't glued, only blue tack, hence why they're not entirely straight. I'll be painting mine with a dirty white, with crimson and black edging. In fact, only the base is glued, just like yours.

That thing looks wicked! My Skull Lord will be affiliated with my Iron Warriors. Most of it will be painted in leadbelcher and sycorax bronze. The top half of the torso will be painted red. I am going to try and simulate it is turning blood red from the head down. I will also have hazard striping on the right should just like all of my Iron Warriors.

Sounds great. I'll keep you updated on how mine goes, I'll probably be starting a thread myself when I have something more substantial to show. I'm relatively inexperienced with painting which is what I'm worrying about a lot, but hopefully the guys in my local GW will help out.

Dæxxos inspecting the night shift's work. "Ummm...there is a problem here!"

I assembled the pedestal in the wrong direction. Super glue is too strong to break. I hope this won't effect the rest of the assembly too bad.

I should have it fully assembled by the end of the day. The only thing I have to do today is eat lunch and run to the post office. But I do have to work on my other project that arrived on Valentine's day.

Every piece is so warped, I am going to have to warm up each piece and fit it together. I may have to forgo painting the inside. The weather is supposed to warm up tomorrow, so I need to primer it tomorrow.

So here is the early evening update. I am painting as I assemble so some of the nooks and crannies are easy to get at.

I also spent about an hour with the Conair trying to get this to slide together. What a pain.

Close, but no cigar. Back to Mount Conair with you.

This Caestus will be the transport for my Murder Squad

my favorite part about this whole thread is the warpsmith helping you out.

The model itself is looking really nice, keep up the good work!

So here is my Wednesday update. This beast is a lot more tedious to paint than I thought. Hoping to have torso attached to tank by this evening, just a few small details to complete.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
So it is Wednesday night, 2200hrs and time for my to hit the sack. It has been along day, and tomorrow is another long day in the battle bunker. Here are some more painted pieces.

The torso and arms are now glued together. I am hazard striping the great cleaver and right shoulder guard. The blood tanks are tedious mofos, I only have the patience to work on one at a time before I must go to something else. I am going to paint up the skullhurler and daemogore cannon tomorrow and attach them. Not sure if I will glue them in or not. They seem to be the best option for me and the armies I face. We'll see. Oh, BTW the two Caestus nacelles are glued together, we should have a warm, sunny day tomorrow to primer.

Here are the photos.

I decided to paint the left arm and shoulder guard Khorne Red. My 20 Iron Berzerkers will be painted the same.

Thursday morning....almost finished with the Great Cleaver...just have to paint the teeth silver, then Blood for the Blood God. He head is not attached, I was sent a picture last night of on of the heads from the forthcoming Knight Titans. One looks exactly like the Iron Warriors symbol.

I am getting ready to primer my Caestus Assault Ram, it is finally a warm sunny day in Virginia.

Very cool. I have not seen many colour scheme variations on this model so this is quite refreshing.

Approve of the red arm, gives the whole model more 'pop'. Will follow this with interest. Looking forward to seeing the final and anything else you might make!

What a busy day. Still a few things left to finish tomorrow, but I did get quite a bit done today. Here are a crap-ton of pix. Enjoy.

Inspecting the carriage, getting ready to install the Blood Tanks

I also primered my Caestus today. What a disaster. Not sure if it was the weather that dipped midway through the process, the resin model of the primer I used (Army Painter Gun Metal), but it is covered in splotches, really shiny, and smooth. I was hoping I wouldn't have to paint the whole model, but it looks as if I have no choice. Here are some photos of the fuselage and nacelles glueing together.

Hope everyone enjoys the update. Thank you for the comments.

One word: FINISHED!!!

I present to you the Iron Lord of Skulls (pre-blood)

The Chaplain, don't worry, head isn't secured

Daemongore Cannon

Skull Hurler

Great Cleaver

Skull Dozer Blade

...and after he is drenched in the blood of the enemies (and friends alike, Khorne cares not from whence the blood flows, only that is flows)

And here is a continuation of my next project. It is coming out better than I thought. The shiny silver armour is Ceremite plating.

Once again, thanks for all the comments. I will be deploying these bad boys tomorrow against my son's orks. I will take plenty of pictures of it in action as it destroys both of his stompas and half of his infantry.

I cut my self while painting it, he has some very sharp pointy edges.....

Games Workshop Blood for the Blood God Technical. It is awesome. Looks like blood. I have used it on every Iron Warrior I have completed to date, the effect is amazing.

that is exactly what happened. I have reached my bandwidth limit in photobucket. I am trying to figure it out now. Are there any other option I can use to upload photos?

Use imgur.com, you can register an account and organise your photos, or you can upload without registering if you aren't worried about wanting to delete your images later. There's never any bandwidth issues.
