First time poster... be gentle :p

Here is a list I am considering for an upcoming GT, 1999 single force or no escalation or fortifications:

Company Command Squad - Meltagun, Chimera - ML, HB

Vet Squad - 3 x Melta Gun, Chimera - ML, HB

Vet Squad - 3 x Plasma Gun, Chimera - ML, HB

Vendetta Gunship - 3 TL Lascannons

Vendetta Gunship - 3 TL Lascannons

Scout Sentinel - Missle Launcher, Hunter Killer Missle

Manticore Rocket Launcher

Leman Russ Demolisher - HB

Leman Russ Demolisher - HB

Allied to Tau:

Commander - Ignore Cover, Drone controller, Iridium Battlesuit, puretide engram chip, stim injector

Riptide - Ion Accelerator

10 Kroot - 1 Hound

10 Kroot - 1 Hound

3 Man Broadside team - 5 missile drones, interceptor, missile pods and smart missiles

I have a Tau/Tau army too but this is something a little different (for me at least im sure its not original). As such any comments or concerns from people who have seen or done it better than I is welcome. Thanks!

I would ditch the sentinel easy first blood and I would remove the stim on commander pointsynch and give him c&c node makes the ion so much better re roll to hit and gets hot as well as scatter. unless he is going with the missile sides.

remove drone controller doesn't work on missile drones.

I would give the riptide EWO for drop podding marines.

overall good list.

I didn't realize drone controller didn't work on missile drones so good call there. He is going with the broadsides that is why he doesn't have cnc node so I gave him stims to make him a slightly better tank for the unit. The dropping of the drone controller frees up points for a EWO on the riptide plus maybe a boltgun or something for my IG commander. Maybe I can find room for a grenade launcher or flamer.

I plan to outflank the sentinel so I don't think it will cause first blood (I think they have scout I don't have the codex in front of me). A bit of a liability during kill points, but the ability to outflank and throw some missiles at the side or rear of a wave serpent or other tank seems really good and should get a kill point to offset any I might lose.

Another possibility I was looking at was dropping the demolisher and the sentinel for three hydras and another melta gun. That army would look like this:

Company Command Squad - 2 x Meltagun, Commander with Boltgun, Chimera - ML, HB

Vet Squad - 3 x Melta Gun, Chimera - ML, HB

Vet Squad - 3 x Plasma Gun, Chimera - ML, HB

Vendetta Gunship - 3 TL Lascannons

Vendetta Gunship - 3 TL Lascannons

Manticore Rocket Launcher

Leman Russ Demolisher - HB

3 x Hydra Flak Tanks - HB

Allied to Tau:

Commander - MSSS, Iridium Battle Suit, Pure-tide engram chip, stim injector

Riptide - Ion Accelerator, EWO, SMS

10 Kroot - 1 Hound

10 Kroot - 1 Hound

3 Man Broadside team - 5 missile drones, EWO, HYMP and SMS

To be fair I don't know if 3x Flak Tanks are truly needed. You have some beastly anti-air with the Vendettas, I would almost drop them for a third Vet Squad (Can't remember if points match up right) or put back a second Leman Russ so it has less of a target on its back. I love the Flak Tanks, but they just aren't quite needed with 2 vendettas.

That is true, though the Hydras are mainly for anti tank (read wave serpents and to a lesser extent skyrays and other skimmers) than for anti flyer. The insurance against flyers is just added benefit.

That said though a vet squad with three meltas and a chimera is 155 pts while the full hydra squad is 225. The demolisher is 165. I am thinking it would be a meta call on the tourn but going into an unknown event I think I would want more insurance against wave serpents since they seem to be everywhere. I would say a fifth troop choice is attractive if I find I am low on troops.

Also I should say I have never played with a guard army before so this is all theory and fishing from my end on the expected damage output.
