Robber discovers child porn on stolen tapes, and reports it to police.

If you doubt there's an unwritten code of honor among criminals -- governing certain behavior that's just not permitted -- consider this:

Police say a burglar in southern Spain who stole an old Super 8 camera and tapes from a home discovered to his horror the graphic video content of a man sexually abusing boys.

The burglar put three tapes in a brown envelope, hid them under a parked car, and then called police from a public phone, directing them to go find it.

Inside the envelope, police found a note with the home address of the suspected pedophile and a message from the burglar:

"I've had the misfortune that these tapes have fallen into my hands and I feel obligated to turn them in so that you can do your job and put that (expletive) in prison for life."

Spanish national police confirmed Thursday they arrested a 64-year-old suspected child molester this week at his home -- the one that had been burglarized -- in the southern provincial capital of Jaen.

The suspect is a local football (soccer) coach who lived alone. He lured some of his young players into watching pornographic videos together, and then sexually abused them, police said.

Police have identified four minor boys who were victims of the alleged abuse, including a 16-year-old who may have been abused for six years.

The suspected pedophile had reported the burglary at his home to police, listing various electrical appliances that were stolen. But he didn't mention the camera or the tapes, police said.

At his home, police said they found other tapes with graphic content of sexual abuse of boys.

And yes, they're still looking for the burglar, the one "with a conscience," said a police officer in Jaen.

I'm loathe to congratulate the guy on uncovering that psychos crimes, but being burglarized couldn't have happened to a better victim. Hope he spends the rest of his life in a hole so deep he forgets what the word sun even means.

I respect this burglar. I'd respect him a bit more if he'd hand delivered the tapes to the police, but at least he has the decency to understand that some gak must be stopped.

I wouldn't call this "Chaotic Good", though. I'd call it "Chaotic Neutral played by someone who isn't secretly trying to play Chaotic Evil to get around the DM's ban on evil alignments."

But then, I run into a lot of Please don't bypass the language filter like this. Reds8n who try to be clever when I DM.

It's kind of scary how many pedophiles there are just floating around. It took someone breaking into his house to smoke him out.

Going along with the criminal theme, it probably took a fair bit of personal fortitude not to blackmail the guy and just turn him over.

Actually, Pedophiles are loathed by criminals. At least American criminals.

Being a pedo, or accused pedo, in an american prison is basically a death sentence if the other inmates find out.

In the standard Criminal pecking order being a pedophile gets you pretty screwed. A lot of them get beaten, harassed, and even killed. No guards or prisoners give a damn about them. Like I said. Even criminals have standards

I remember a case durin the run up to the First Gulf War on '92 when a Naval attache had files stolen from the boot of his car by an opportunist thief.

The thief left messages with a local press saying he was shocked at what he found offering to return the documents because he was IIRC 'a thief not a traitor'.

Certainly doesn’t surprise me, in British prisons there is a hierarchy amongst prisoners and beings sex offender of any sort places you right at the bottom. Paedophiles are the generally considered to be the lowest of the low and are normally isolated away from the general prisoner population for their own safety.

I seem to recall reading about a similar case in America a couple of years ago where Burglars nicked a pc and load of hard drives and then found a massive child porn collection on them. In that case the Burglars handed what they had found into their local police station personally. It was decided that they would not face charges.
