Hi All,
Although I have played 40k (many....many years ago) I was just a mere boy dipping my old blood angels in pots of red paint and thinking I was a pro. However this time around I would like to do this right from the very start, from picking the right army for me, to taking my time and painting them to a reasonable standard, right through to the tabletop. This is kind of the reason I joined DakkaDakka as I welcome any hints and tips from any seasoned players to me (a complete newbie.)

Thanks all!

Welcome to Dakka, Unjust You've certainly come to the right place! I too remember trying to paint numerous coats of undiluted yellow onto my poor Space Marines

While I'm here, could anyone recommend an army for me? I'm not hugely bothered by how mobile they are but I would like them to pack a punch! I have used SM before and would like something a little more challenging. If anyone could give me some ideas and why you think it's a good idea I will be very grateful!

Ps... Thanks for the welcomes!!!!!

First off welcome aboard!

Second, for a new army, just look at all the new books and find one that you like the models and fluff. My first army were space marines aswell because my dad bought me a squad and painted it for my birthday. I really wanted to do Biel-tan, but I was greatful for what I got. When I starded back up the first thing I did was buy Eldar Biel-tan, now I got into IG and that is my favorite army. For a new army just take some time, look at the models, fluff, tactics, or if your more into the painting and building like I am, look at the colors and convertion posabilites. Plus a new IG codex is due soon so there will be alittle more fluff and models to go with them.

Thanks for the advice, the only problem I have is that my local citadel stockist is 2 towns over so looking at the codex' will be a little tricky hence my need for you old veterans opinions. It's a Long way to travel without a clue if you catch my drift

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka
