Subject: Protectorate of menoth best bang for the buck?

:Was thinking about starting up menoth. I have done a bit of research first, and see some neat stuff, particularly that they run alot of jacks well, which I like. What would be the must own units for menoth? I am going to be skipping the 2 player battle box as I have no interest in khador, probably pick up the menoth box, some bastions as they are awesome, a choir obviously. Alot of my regular opponents tend to bring high armor to crack (khador, trollbloods). What are your suggestions for units that dont fit a tiny niche of play, that you can use in almost any list.
One more thing, is the harbringer a good overall caster to pick up and start with, or too complicated? What should I consider for my 3rd jack (probably magnetize a multi plastic kit I am thinking) and mabye a unit of troops. Have to come in under 200ish to start, but would like a functional armor cracking 35ish point list. Thanks for any advice.

Here are what I feel the general use menoth units are.
Errants+ua
Zealots+ua
Tfg, ua is not mandatory here
Choir (mandatory purchase)
Solos
2x vassal (mandatory purchase)
Covenant
Piper
Wracks
There are a bunch of others also, not much time free atm.
Jacks
Reckoners
Templars
Vanquishers
Redeemer
Repenter
Devout for harbinger
Harbinger is one of our strongest casters and has the advantage of being able to be played with different styles. The biggest obstacle for me when I started with her was that I put her in situations where she was at too great of risk or martyred too low, then lost to assassinations. I personally play her two ways. The first way I play her is with a unit of errants with the piper and the book, with the intention of keeping the errants that fail their tough rolls alive through martyrdom and the ones that make their tough stay standing. This playstyle will require more focus camping from the harbinger (as she might need to be farther up), but takes more advantage of martyrdom and awe. One drawback is that depending on the list it can be light on armor cracking.
I would go to endgamegaming.net and look at lists for examples of this style of harbinger list (and to see other lists in general), though they will mostly be 50 point lists.
The second way I play her is with a bunch of warjacks. This helps with armor cracking.
Here is one of my lists that I took to a 35 point tournament last weekend
Harbinger+5
Templar-8
Reckoner-8
Reckoner-8
Min choir-2
vassal-2
vassal-2
Max errants+UA
It worked really well for me, but the matchups I played it in were not very shooting heavy. Other strong protectorate casters are Kreoss1 and 3, Severius1, and Feora2. Feora2 and Kreoss3 deal the best with high armor out of those 4 as they have ignite. Severius1 also helps as he has eye of menoth.
If you post what casters you expect to be playing against and the general styles of lists you expect to see on the other side of the table it would help.

Ahh Menoth my first force.
The Harbinger has obscene focus, I wouldn't advise her for a first time player with the fraction.
She is squishy. She can run 4 heavy jacks with little problems and her Cmd is high
If you want her wracks are usually not needed. Though Exemplars errant with the solo and UA is basically mandatory.
Take Villmon and 2 paladins and watch them walk a cross the field and wreck everything.
Other than that you can take what you wish, though a choir is usually fairly standard in every Menoth list.
I would not recommend the Battle engine though it just soaks too many points.

The Menoth battle engine is the tits man.
Its an infantry clearing machine and it also is great at clearing zones.
Not for a completely new player but it definitely has a place at 50 points.

I usually run Reznik, so I usually just run 2 jacks or 1 heavy and 2 lights

Thanks for the advice all
I will probably pick up just the menoth battle box since I have the khador models already from years ago minus the shield guys, and get a choir, another jack or 2, some bastions and maybe a jam unit and solo or so.
