Yes

1500pt O'Vesa Star W: 27 D: 2 L: 1
The challenge: in a 1500pt game I will play 900pt + D6x100 pts, if I roll a 6 I reroll and -100 to that second number (down to 1000pt minimum)
W:6 D:0 L:1

Of course a roll of a 1 still always fails, regardless of it being a 1+.

I know, makes me think why can't some 40k stuff function like fantasy, i.e. cover and armor.

Now that I think of it, 1+ armor saves would be a rather interesting thing to throw in there. Terminators that function like regular terminators, except they can laugh off plasma but still get slagged by melta guns.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

so to clarify it is possible to get an 1+ save but any 1s are always fails and wounds but ap2 weapons caant harm meaning you still need a 1 therefore it isnt really possible to have a +! save

However, in fanatasy it is entirely possible to get a 1+ armor save, taking considerations any modifiers due to strength or special rules. The unmodified roll of a 1+ is still on a 2+ because of the 'one always fails principle'. I would say that sure you can have that 1+, still won't help from my BFG based in space or a meltagun.

No, a 1+ save is not possible.
In addition to a 1 always being a fail, you have this from "Maximum Saves":

"no save (armour, cover or invulnerable) can ever be improved beyond 2+."

Thanks Grendel083,
Wonder it took 8 posts before someone quoted the restriction in the Rules themselves: No save can be improved to 1+ .

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

Yeah, 2nd was pretty fun with both of these. However, even power armour was like wet tissue paper in this edition, so there is that...

A 3+ save where even basic weapons could drop your save by 1 or 2 points meant they didnt function as well as they should - being 1/3rd more survivable (5+ vs no save) than an ork boy against the same basic infantry weapon isnt fantastic.

(I think bolters were -2 - -1 from S, one from bolter being AP)

Pretty much. There were very few weapons that didn't modify armour by at least -1, meaning almost nothing got a save. What you tried to do was avoid being hit by getting as many modifiers to hit as you could. However, many races had targeters as well, so...
