Howdy folks, couldn't decide if this should go here, or in the P&M forums...but here it is!

Looking at finally committing to a large ravenwing army, something I've always wanted to do!!

I'm going to need to do up a librarian for this force, and since GW doesn't make a model, it's conversion time. I've more or less worked out what I'm going to do between a spare command squad bike and some grey knights bits. The only problem I ran into is that the parts I'd decided to use don't have a robe. It would be easy enough to use a couple different bits since nothing has been ordered, but I kind of like the way it would have looked with the original bits. Now since DA librarians are members of the inner circle, fluff wise he should have a robe.....bah, what to do?

Give me your opinions, please!

I think a robe on a bike would look funny. You would have to hope it was extra-stretchy material or else it will just get shredded whenever he tried to get on the bike. I suppose Sammael has one...

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

You could get the bedroll off a Scout and use it as a wadded-up robe strapped to his bike.

Robes and skirts don't mix well with wheels, they get tangled and torn and you end up crashing because there's cloth stuck in your axles.

The other alternative is to sculpt a robe onto the bits you have using green stuff or milliput, which isn't too hard. The trick is to sculpt it using thin strips of mixed milliput then blend them together into a single piece of 'cloth' using wet fingertips.

Why not use the robed figure from the Ravenwing Upgrade kit?

If I go robed, that's what I'd use...I do have a couple laying around. The only thing that has me thinking no robe, is in order to get the model with a psychic hood, I'm using the back of a grey knight which has no robe on it, so I was concerned that the robed front torso wouldn't mesh, but it would be minor and blended with paint. Additionally, until last night I wasn't sure about how to mask the robe for painging the power armor with the airbrush, but after experimenting with silly putty I think it's game on for the robe.

I wouldn't put a robe on him. It hides to much detail on what should be a centerpiece model. I would show off as much blue armor as I could. Plus there are no ravenwing librarians that I am aware of. Plenty of librarians that might attach to the wing but none permanently on the roster. I wish there were then he would have skilled rider and could give it to a RAS but that isn't the case sadly and ICs no longer get it automatically

Nonsense. The Battle Company box is perfect for filling out your ranks of aspect warriors with a large contingent from the Screaming Baldies shrine.
