Tough Tyrant Guard

Hi All,
I noticed I had some 3rd Ed. Dark Eldar models lying around and I thought it wouldn't take that much more to create a small army (possibly for Allying purposes).
HQ (95)
1) Archon
- Venom Blade, Shadowfield
Total: 95
ELITE (155)
1) 3x Kabalite Trueborn
- 3x Blasters, 3x Plasma Grenades, 3x Haywire Grenades
- Venom: 2x Splinter Cannons
Total: 155
TROOPS (250)
1) 5x Kabalite Warriors
- 1x Blaster
- Venom: 2x Splinter Cannons
Total: 125
2) 5x Kabalite Warriors
- 1x Blaster
- Venom: 2x Splinter Cannons
Total: 125
I realize the Archon isn't exactly operating at peak efficiency (he's a leftover Incubi model I converted from before). Should I even bother including him or should I just grab, say, a Haemonculus for cheap HQ and fill out the points elsewhere? Thanks!

Executing Exarch

You could run an archon at the same cost, but far more effective. The main advantage the archon has over the other HQ choices is the statline and shadowfield. A power spear is meh, and you probably don't need the Ap3 all that badly. A venom blade is cheap as chips, and solid enough where your archon can hold their own. Ghostplate is a fine backup to a shadowfield if you have spare points, but the shadowfield comes first. Same with drugs, good to have but take a field.
Another option is to run a succbus. At low point levels, they are quite effective. WIth a hamey, venom blade(or scissorhand) plus liquefier is the go to build. All depends on what you want: considering your list is shooty, the CC role is mostly a backup.
I take it you decked out on grenades for the trueborn to round out spare points? Plasma are great for the cost, but never required. Haywire are a bit iffy, probably better to get an upgrade elsewhere, and be 1-2 points short. The rest of your list is fine.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Good point about the Venom Blade. I was a little worried that my list didn't have a single power weapon, but the Blade's ability to wound essentially everything seems like a pretty good investment.
Grenades were there to round out points as well as a Plan B option, Plasma gives me a small blast for anti-infantry if need be and the haywires can help me finish off a vehicle if my Blasters whiff.

Warning From Magnus? Not Listening!

Serling knows what he's talking about. He's given a lot of good advice to me over the past couple months.
Drop the grenades and use the points to boost your archon. Or take a cheep Haem with a liquifier and venom blade and use the points to get another small squad.
