I'm sure countless people have brought this up before but would a Farseer on a Jetbike with the Mantle of the Laughing God and the Uldanorethi Long Rifle be workable or too silly?

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

I don't think the long rifle is nearly worth it. It's a lot of points for a single shot weapon. Think how much cost it adds on an already expensive HQ (who is quite fragile if your opponent can bring the right weapons, or an assault to bear) versus the amount you pay for a rank and file model, say a fire dragon or wraithguard, with a powerful weapon.

I like the farseer on bike with the Mantle, its a great support unit. No need for the overpriced firepower. Really I would say that when using the unit, I wouldn't want anything to tempt me to shoot rather than boosting him to the exact right position every turn.

I've used once this rifle on a Spirtiseer, but I haven't thought of taking it on a Jetseer.

In a tournament list I'm sure it would be better to spend those 25 points elsewhere. For exmaple changing a 5 DA unit into a 10 man Guardian one.
But I'll try this in my next friendly game. It actually isn't as stupid as some might think. Against most armies Jetseer with Mantle is nearly invincible. Rifle has a 120" range so it doesn't force you to get into enemy's face. With Farseer's BS 5 we can assume that he would get about 5 hits during the whole game. That is 2/3 wounds on an MC (including a Wraithknight), 2/3 wounds on Space Marines or a lucky precision shot that kills a special weapon guy. All that for only 25 points.

Executing Exarch

The Twilight Zone

It is certainly trollworthy, if nothing else. Probably not worth it in competitive play, but for anything short of a tournament it is viable.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

It's too bad Autarchs don't have access to any Exarch powers considering they are the warleaders who've trained in every last aspect. If I could do the Mantle Bike Autarch with Longrifle and give him Fast Shot, I'd be all over that.

But Autarchs were never Exarchs so why would they have Exarch only abilities?

OT: It seems like a silly, but incredibly fun to play with, especially since nothing is out of range unless you are playing apocalypse.

Simple answer: To give players a metric boatload of fun rules to tweak and build an insanely fun and diverse HQ unit rather than them being a generally inferior unit to bring than Farseers.

If the Farseer has buff powers, it makes sense to have something to do in the shooting phase.
Skip the mantle, and just keep the Jetseer out of LOS of most other threats.

I would never skip the mantle, the biggest reason being flyers. They can very easily gain LoS of most of the board, and you cant predict when they will show up.
