After recently discovering Saga and waiting for my 4pt warband to arrive I thought I'd get started on a Hero piece...
Gunnar Hamundarson.
I am very impressed with the metal minis from Gripping Beast and looking forward to building and painting the rest.
I'm also interested in Warhammer Ancients- is this still round/being played?

Cheers, any thoughts on using the GW style 40mm rather than the Renedra discs supplied for Saga games?

Gorgeous photography, especially the second pic, whoever makes the model should use that in their promotional material.

Great painting as well, as a really nice natural look to it.

Lovely work.

Our group has just picked up Saga as well. I don't see any issue using the GW style bases myself. We had considered using round lipped bases until a discovered a cache of round discs I had hidden away.

Moar pictures!

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.

Thanks Carlos and Trondheim.
The Base is a 40mm GW built up with slate and Apoxie Sculpt. I used a small tree stump I had floating around and sculpted roots. The Raven was from a Renedra gravestone sprue. A sand/plaster/whiteglue mix was used to create the dirt and then finished with painting and Army Painter tufts. Additional static grass was used to unify the patches and also some enamel based weathering and pigments.
Just waiting on some shield transfers and I'll have a new batch to shoot.

Hey these are pretty great models, I've always wanted to get into a historical game but never really found any models that caught my eye. I'll have to look these guys up. Great painting too btw, nice basing too.

Gets along better with animals... Go figure.

Thanks, these ship with Renedra disc bases but I preferred to add some height and like the style of the GW bases.
The sculpts are nice but are lacking in detail- they have a very classic look- and the above are all metal.

I'm toying with the idea of sculpting more detailed figures with a view to cast them in white metal. More on the blog...

More Vikings joining the warband.
The warlord was a lot of fun with a raised base and terrain with a scratchbuilt arrow and axe along with a section of ruin. As most of the weapon hands are just sleaved sections I have been resculpting thumbs to hold the spears and axes in place. Also a sculpted grip for the shield- a minor detail but I think it is essential for the warlord.
