Hey Everyone,
So I have been looking into Beastmen out of curiosity because my Skaven are almost complete for now so I kind of want to try something different (might be in 6 months or more though, hopefully they get a new army book soon).
ANYWAYS....I was looking at some army lists and stuff and then went to look at the Minotaurs and boy oh boy do they look like a dirty pile of garbage.

I was just wondering if anyone likes the look of them? I feel they are like the Skaven Rat Ogres (the ones from Island of Blood look amazing but the old ones are ugly) They seem to be WAY to oddly shaped they seem to thick or something I'm not sure the word for how I feel about them The legs are funny and the muscles look like they were modeled by a guy just slapping balls of greenstuff on a model haha Mainly the guy in the middle in his abdomen area
I like the look of every other model for Beastmen basically but this one Do you agree?

p.s Here is a picture for your reference:

I don't know if its just me or not but I think they look a little silly. They probably just not for me, im not a fan of beastmen anyways. That being said Im not a fan of skaven either but I do like the Rat ogres from island of blood haha!

The problem is that a lot of people paint in cartoon colours, which really accentuates the "beefcake" quality of the models. I've seen them done in with more tastefully muted highlights and they actually looked quite good.

Remember that 99% of the time people are looking at them from the top, where they're just broad shoulders and big fething axes. Looks plenty badaass.

The old classic metal minotaurs were much better. There are a lot of other companies making far superior minotaur models. These new ones are just pants.

Bad models, hands down. I've seen them in a multitude of different colour schemes and its a turd polishing exercise.

Other companies (and older GW) are doing much better minotaurs.

I've only seen them once in the flesh, and they actually looked really cool. The chap had painted them in muted browns and they looked just menacing and dangerous. I think that it is partly the problem of the photographs on the website, which as per usual make the models look worse than they are.

For me the problem is with the legs, which are too human looking. Every good minotaur model has reverse jointed animal legs, and they look much better.

I agree with pgmason, but I think the bigger problem is the complete lack of realistic muscles. Even if GW chose to make them more human-like, they could pull that off if the muscles didn't look completely ridiculous. We've gotten spoilt by fantastic sculptors, and this is not cutting it anymore.

Look at the muscles on this scibor miniature. I bought him as a chief for my Skavenslave unit just because any excuse to put him in my ranks was a good enough reason

Edit: I'll admit though, I'm not in love with Scibor's minotaurs. They look a bit off and not really imposing enough to me. But they're better than GW's atleast.

I actually bought a Beastmen army recently because of them. I think they are awesome. I'd like to field like 50 of them obviously I can't in any normal games. I dig the "huge bro" look of them. Look like steroid amped Beastmen to me.

I rather like them; but they certainly aren't for everyone. I think you should look up better pictures of them (and better painjobs) before deciding if they are pants or not.

Even then, they still might not be for you.

I think they're absolutely horrendous, no matter the paintjob. Maybe not Razorgor bad, but they're in the vicinity.

Just like the Razorgor, there are massive differences between the art (good) and the model (bad). The art shows reasonably-sized heads, more barrel-chested figures without bloated musculature, etc.

Fortunately I have a lot of the old GW metals. Which aren't great either, but I'll take them over the plastics.

Awful paint job (unless they're wearing some sort of fishnet t-shirt) and wierd jaws, I'm not a fan of the GW ones. I think the Scibor ones look amazing though, the stuff of nightmares.

No offense but the Scibor ones look like they are one their way to a "man only" orgy... Not that there is anything wrong with that as Jerry Seinfeld would say.
