In the recent vein of making Movie Marine-esque versions of various things, I now offer you the latest in Fluff-based Overpoweredness.

In the background material, Genestealers are some of the fastest, deadliest creatures in the entire galaxy and beyond it, capable of shredding terminator armour with their claws and subverting entire worlds with their mesmerizing gaze and ovipositors.

Genestealer Brood {Troops}............................150 points

Genestealer: WS6 BS0 S4 T4 W2 I6 A4 Ld10 Sv4+
Broodlord: WS7 BS0 S4 T5 W3 I5 A4 Ld10 Sv3+

Unit Type: Infantry.
Unit Composition: 5 Genestealers
Wargear: Two Claws
Special Rules: Fleet, Scout, Infiltrate, Furious Charge, Stealth, Brood Telepathy, Mesmerise, Character (Broodlord Only)

Options:
May include up to 15 additional Genestealers for 30 points/model
May upgrade one Genestealer to a Broodlord: 10 points
The squad may be upgraded to Ymgarl Genestealers: 2 points/model

Genestealer Claws:
Rng - S User AP 2 Melee, Shred, Specialist Weapon, Armourbane

Brood Telepathy
Genestealers have the And They Shall Know No Fear special rule as long as there remain at least two Genestealers in the unit. In addition, their Unit Coherency is 4" instead of 2".

Mesmerise
Any model that wishes to attack a Genestealer in close combat must pass an Initiative test in order to do so. If the Initiative test is failed, they may attempt a Leadership Morale test instead. If this test is passed, they may still attack as normal, but if the test is failed they attack their own unit instead. A model in a Challenge may not attempt the Initiative test option - they are too focussed on their opponent to look away!

Brood telepathy should be fearless, not ATSKNF. 'Stealers never run.

Include some kind of rule that makes models over a certain LD or I threshold or whatever immune to mesmerise. After all, I have a hard time picturing an Avatar succumbing to that, even with good rolls.

Otherwise, interestingly, this seems like a massive glass hammer. You are upping them from 14 to 50 ppm, but they only get double wounds and stealth durabilitywise.

I like it.

30 ppm, not 50, lol.

Genestealers are supposed to be smart combatants. They will retreat to find a more favourable engagement. Duck into the ducts to come from another direction, for example.

Hmm, how about making Mesmerise a morale test? THat way, Fearless units are immune to it.

Oooh right, 30, nvm. Seems better.

Yeah, that seems better with the morale tests as well.

I am still not sure about the other stuff, they do not seem 'ATSKNF-y' to me.

The way I see it, Fearless is for people too far gone to know when to run away, while ATSKNF is for units that understand the value of tactical retreats, but won't break and flee.

Why is the Broodlord I4?

Because Genestealers have always shown as growing slower as they bulk up and age. I should probably have called him Patriarch rather than Broodlord.

Still, that is a fairly dramatic drop. I'd say make him I5 because even a bulky Genestealer should be crazy fast, imo.

Well, I was on the fence about it anyway. Back up to I5 he goes!

Was gonna say they're UP, then I read the Claws' rules. Just about right for movie 'Stealers IMO.
