Hi guys

This was my first Cryx miniature i have painted and also the first time i have ever used rust pigment. it took me about 3 hours and i was intending it to be a tabletop standard.

is the rust effect ok or is there a way i can improve? As its my first try with pigments it was a bit of an experiment.

I can see i missed some mold lines but any feedback would be great.

I'm seeing more of a green oxide corrosion than I am rust on the whole model. Were you looking for a muted rust, or more of a stand out? I think the model looks great, I just don't see the rust very clearly. For my rust I like to thing about where I want it, then I trail it down edges above and around the area to give it a flow, ie running water from the top that runs down and pools to make more rust.

Unless I'm mistaken, you've applied your rust to the edges of the green areas. While that looks good, it looks more like grime and dirt than rust. Rust would usually be on exposed metal and where the paint has chipped away to show the metal underneath.

All in all its a very well done model. I would echo others in that there should be more rust, mostly around the metal unless you are willing to chip some of the green paint.

Awesome stuff either way.

Good job, i'd suggest checking out some rust tutorials. And try to had a few spots of brighter orange, that usually does the trick!

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.

Just going to echo everybody else, it looks fine but if "rusty" is what you were going for, needs much more rust.

Thanks for the replies guys, im not going to make any changes to this mini as i am trying to get the battlebox to a tabletop standard for Thursday (bought Saturday so was pushed for time) but on the future models i will take into account what you have all said to improve on them.

As always the feedback is much appreciated and spot on.
