Just a quick question about glazes: If I pre-shade/highlight my mini in black to white (grays), can I use glazes to color it?

Yes. This is commonly done using a zenithal technique to provide a guide for where highlights and shades will go.

Yup, inks work well also, they are more concentrated in color.
