it has identical stats and the CSM codex and C:SM codex are also both from this edition (6th) so I really dont get it.

It doesn't have power of the machine spirit.

It also isn't cheap enough for the loss of it.

SM gets the crusader and the other variant though, which are better.

Loss of Power of the Machine Spirit.

Chaos is the only sanity left.

^ This. It's a USR that is worth its weight in gold, certainly more than 15 pts on a vehicle that expensive.

Because apparently to GW, Chaos is a horde army in power armour and this somehow reflects this

Night Lords (40k): 3500pts
Klan Zaw Klan: 4000pts

but doesnt it have access to potentially better vehicle upgrades like daemonic possession? given all weapons are twin-linked, this shouldnt be too much of an issue

You have to pay for it.

And DP is not as good as it makes your BS worse for something that does not affect the vehicle much during game, supposedly.

Yeah, it's appropriately priced. Loss of a good upgrade, but access to different ones. As such, it should be a little bit cheaper, but still roughly the same price.

Though I'd note that demonic possession is pretty bad. Not only the loss of BS, but, more importantly, the chance that it eats whatever you put in it.

Being able to give soulblaze to lascannons, or prevent overwatch on an assault ramp tank on the other hand...

On moon miranda.

As noted, it's cheaper because it doesn't get PotMS, but even being cheaper, the loss of that upgrade is powerful enough that the CSM Land Raider is very rarely taken.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Indeed. BEing able to move 6" and fire both weapons you have paid for, on n assault tank, is apparently not worth much in the way of points.

200 points and you may see them be used.

Also loyalists can get to add multimelta on their land raider where as chaos can add a combi-melta to theirs...for the same price...
