Hello everyone! I'm probably going to become a regular here for the next good long while. I'll be asking lots of stupid questions about rules, painting, lists, converting terrain and all that good stuff.

I've spent plenty of cash on Warhammer 40k and it's brought me plenty of fun games and I'll be keeping most of my army around, painting stuff in my spare spare time but my friend and I have been debating for a long time about buying into a new tabletop board game, one we could start and learn together and maybe get our friends interested along the way.

I tried once, with a Shasvastii starter box but I could not for the life of me get excited about the models. They were at once too Alien and too Human. (so if anyone wants to buy a Shasvastii starter box, let me know ) but now I've found a good collection of Corregidor Nomad models for me and Ariadna MRRF models for my friend for a fair price which are all models we get really excited about and can't wait to play.

If anyone has any tips for two just starting players (and one just starting painter, me) I'd really appreciate the help! Other than that, I just wanted to say hey!

For beginners, these rules from Beasts of War are quite popular. Start with a couple/few guys to get the basic mechanics down, then start adding a couple of special rules each time you play - for starters probably AD, camo and infiltration. At some point you'll probably learn link teams too, since both those armies are sectorials, but those are a big block of rules. And enjoy yourself.

The best tip I heard was the one I heard over and over again-- choose the factions with the minis you like the best.

Play small point games (100-150 points) for a while, to learn the rules and playstyle. Learn how to set up a good table -- you'll have to poke around for tips for that or head over to the Official Infinity forums. Lot's of photos of tables here http://infinitythegame.com/forum/index.php?/topic/16451-post-your-tables/ to give you some ideas. And what Dheneb said, too.

Well I feel dumb having to explain myself lol

But I was saying he shouldn't't worry about "dumb" questions since me and you seem to pose a lot of rules questions that IJW tends to answer. Anyways short answer is there are no dumb questions.

Thing is, alot of the soi-disant dumb questions answer themselves the first time you play. It is nice to know the answers in advance, but trust me, a lot of things that seem murky become crystal clear when you play. If nothing else, set up a demo scenario for yourself on a 3x3 table with 3-4 minis per side, and walk yourself through a few turns.

This of course will bring up a whole new sort of questions... Learning is a process.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

There is no such thing as a dumb question!

Best to make sure, rather than to start playing the game and doing it incorrectly for 6 months.
