A lot of people have been saying that the new 'Astrus Militarum' vehicle looks rather orky. A couple of it's details seem to have been pasted from the ork bomma kit and it's generally got a chunky, brutal shape to it.

What if the Taurox was actually designed alongside the new ork Looted Wagon kit as an 'unlooted' version to explain where the orks got theirs from? Hopefully that means we can expect to see a version with functional ork-style tracks, but keeping the general form of the Imperial sometime around May...

I dunno, that seems like a strange thing to do. If you want a new very Orky vehicle in with the new Ork release, why go to the trouble of entwining it with the IG release too? It would be easy enough to say that "the Meks made it" if you wanted a new Ork vehicle.

Haven't been keeping up with the IG news too closely, but is the Taurox meant to transport Ogryns? That could explain why it looks the way it does. If not, then I just view it as a slightly odd design, myself.

Order of the Righteous Armour - 542 points so far.

The looted wagon will never have a kit, the whole point of that unit entry is that you can use other armies' kits that you looted before the new battlewagon came out.

It could go one of 3 ways in the next book:
Pretty much copy pasted from the current codex
Expanded to cover more different vehicles like Land Raiders
Dropped entirely.

But it will not get a model.

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

I'm thinking about reverse-engineering the ork battlewagon into a deorkified IG vehicle. Quite an excercise to begin with, but gives me incentive to finally start with the whole 3D-modelling.

If you add an un-orky ram (demolisher siege shield maybe?) and a leman russ turret on the passenger compartment you'll probably end up with a pretty IG looking battlewagon already. Then roll it in a box full of aquilas and skulls, and you're done.

What makes the battlewagon orky is the steel-jaw raw and the funky armaments on top, the truck itself is pretty boxy already.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

There's a precedent - The Chaos Land Raider: Your friendly neighborhood Land Raider with an extra sprue for skulls and spikes. However, while GW may do the same with the Taurox (adding an ork sprue to the box and 10€ to the price tag) I just don't see it happening.

What remains to be seen is the inevitable Epic unit. I hope it's the Speedsta. I REALLY hope it is.

I just assumed that thing was meant to hold Ogryns.

It looks very Ogryn-y to me.

When I first saw the unit I tried to pronounce it a few different ways and simply couldn't. To me it will forever be the "Tau (slight pause) Rocks". We know Gamesworkshop doesn't play test, or proofread, but how did they not notice this when talking about it at work? How do they pronounce it?
