Will FW army lists (as opposed to just FW units in codex armies) be allowed? I checked the site out but didn't see anything on that. I'd love to bring my DKoK Assault Brigade if possible.
Also, as the IG codex is likely to be released only a couple weeks before this event apparently, if such comes to pass, will the new book be used?
|
IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.
New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts. |

"Also, as the IG codex is likely to be released only a couple weeks before this event apparently, if such comes to pass, will the new book be used?"
I hope not. Army Lists are due in by the 31st of March. Having to then turn around and get the new Codex, go through the book and work out new point levels, then build a resubmit a new list (followed by having to purchase, build, and paint any new models), then play-testing all the new rules (along with the usual nerd-rage over poorly written rules with notime to build a consensus/FAQ on the "correct answer") all within a 2 week timeframe would be a huge pain in the nuts.

The new IG codex, if out, will NOT be used. We usually give a month before its allowed. So until it comes out next week...it'll be the current codex.
The FW lists are NOT allowed at this time.

Mordante: I playtested Mission 4 last night and have a few questions:
"Minefields: Any model (except flyers) that move within 6” of a marker sets off the mine field (S6 AP3 large blast ordinance). Roll scatter 2D6” and arrow. The minefield may be set off more than once per turn."
-Does the minefield detonate when a unit is deployed within 6" of it at the start of the game during the player turn, or does it only detonate when a unit / model moves within 6" of the minefield? (i.e. can I deploy a unit within 6" of a minefield, stay stationary all game and not set it off?)
-Does the actual minefield scatter (causing it to change locations), or just the blast from it?
-When does the blast occur? After the individual unit has moved? After the movement phase is complete?
-Since it can be set off multiple times per turn, I'm guessing it stays around the entire game, even after it has been set off. Correct?
Thanks!

Question about mission #5
What happens to IG immobile artillery if has to start in reserve and can't move onto the table?

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Question about Coteaz: You mentioned that Coteaz uses an Ally detachment. What does that mean?
For instance, if I bring Grey Knights and have Coteaz/Draigo as HQ, does that use up my Allied Detachment?
If I have an ally Detachment with Coteaz in it, does it therefore use 2 Ally Detachments and is therefore illegal?
If I have an Inquisition Detachment with Coteaz, does that use up my Allied Detachment in addition to my Inquis Detachment?

Just wanted to give some feedback to the missions, it seems like having "kill points" in just about every mission unessesarily punishes certain armies and discourages any MSU play style.
The previously posted missions seemed more fun and thought out (the honoring the military ones).
Having kill points be in just about every mission encourages people to take super Lilly Death Stars.

I'm worried about mission #5. RAW immobile artillery can't be deployed and are auto destroyed when the make their reserve roll giving up 1/3 kp and possibly 1st blood. I would really like to know before the list turn in deadline.
I would be ok with the crew starting in reserve with the guns deployed or the guns being unable to shoot until they make their reserve roll for tarantulas and hyperios.

Yeah, KP in every mission means I probably won't bring the army I was going to bring, which stinks as I have been painting that army up for a while. MSU we have found is the best counter to Deathstars and this format does undermine that quite a bit.
And forcing units into reserves is always a bummer as it fundamentally changes the way lists written for 6th edition play. Oh well.
But, wacky missions is kind of a tradition at the BSB, it is still a fun tournament even with some of the more off the wall stuff.

Good question on the immobile assets...I'll review this with the 40k team and see what our thoughts are.

Since Coteaz is a valid choice in a GK army, then you have a GK allied force.
Its only when you want to take Coteaz as an additional selection to another allied force. For example, Space Marines/ IG/Coteaz....thats 2 ally detachments and thus not allowed.
So if you bring Space Marines and Grey Knights, you can bring Coteaz, since he is a valid GK selection. Automatically Appended Next Post: nickthewise wrote:Mordante: I playtested Mission 4 last night and have a few questions:

It is when a model MOVES within 6" of the minefield, it then sets off a mine which scatters the blast from it. The minefield remains in the same location. It happens immediately when the model completes its move.

Personally I like mission #5 and don't mind my artillery having an uphill battle for 1 fight.
My 2 cents is immobile units without crew are deployed, can be shot/attacked, but can't shoot until they make a reserves roll to come online and counts as having moved on the turn they arrive. If it has crew the same rules apply except that the crew start in reserve with the gun deployed.
I also like you 3 fw limit and no duplicates rule. Do 2 homogeneous units with different guns count as a duplicate? IE a unit of thudd guns and a unit of heavy mortars are both field artillery so I'm guessing they would count as a duplicate.

That is a great suggestion.
As to the duplicate units...the two in your example count as two separate units.

Ok, but how does it work if an army does not take GK as an ally but instead takes an inquisitorial detachment and Coteaz?
Is it that everyone is entitled to an inquisitorial detachment as per the inquisitor book (which does not count as an ally itself but just an extension of the normal force org slot) and then if they take Coteaz that uses the ally slot?
Or is it that anyone taking units from the inquisitor book counts as an ally and Coteaz being an entry in the inquisitorial book is not an extra allied slot?
Or is it that you can take inquisitor units or Coteaz but not both?
Just want some clarification with the inquisitorial detachment rules for your event, thanks =).

Per the BSB rules, you can take 1 allied force MAX. You are NOT allowed to also take Inquisitors. They count as an allied force. Basically we are allowing a max of 2 sources in your army.
Coteaz can go with the GKs, because he is part of that Codex.
Or you could take an Inquisition force as your allied detachment.
