So, the goal of this is simple: I'll tell you my list, and you tell me how'd you beat it with any army, any list.
Stipulations are as follows:
No Lords of War greater than 750+ points. (LGS rule.)
Nothing that depends on lucky/above average rolls.
Nothing that could be countered by deployment.
I'm honing my Tournament list, so I don't want to be caught with my pants down against anything.
Here's the list:
Aegis Line w/ Icarus Lascannon
Coteaz
Hereticus Inquisitor w/ Psycollum, ML1, 3 Servo-Skulls
Rune Priest - Terminator Armor
3x of the following:
10 Grey Hunters, 2 Meltaguns, Drop Pod
6 Long Fangs, 5 Missile Launchers
6 Long Fangs, 5 Plasma Cannons
Tigurius
5 Sternguard Veterans
5 Scouts w/ Camo Cloaks and Snipers
Stormraven - Multi Melta and Assault Cannon Automatically Appended Next Post: TACTICS! Yes, Tactics.
The Inquisitors and Long Fangs and Rune Priests hide behind the Aegis Line, forming a particularly tough and deadly castle.
Depending on the situation, and what powers are rolled,Tigurius either joins the castle, (Mainly against armies with AP3 Ignores Cover, to make sure they have 4+ Invulns, or if everyone else gets crappy dice for powers), or the Sternguard/Stormraven.
Sternguard go in the Stormraven. Hurt stuff, then the Stormraven provides extra AA or AT.
Grey Hunters pop any tanks that would otherwise be unkillable, or nearly so.
Scouts fill up a troops section and force pinning tests.

You've got a couple of marines hiding behind a wall hoping for their cover save, you have no anti deathstar power (seerstar, screamerstar) but you should be protected from the likes of heldrakes. Anyway good luck, remember to have fun

I'm not sure Screamerstar would actually be a problem. 2 Squads of Grey Hunters should be able to kill the Lord Of Change pretty easily, assuming I can Ground him first, and Rune Priests have a good chance of fething up Psychic Powers too. Annoying, yes, but not as bad as against some other armies. Does the LoC need to be on board for his re-roll to work?
Also, how does Seerstar work?

Seerstar is Eldar Jetbike mounted Farseers and Warlocks, with a DE character to give them hit and run. The unit has a tendency to psychic power your armour save away, charge into combat with 30 attacks, hitting on 3s generally and re-rolling, wounding on 2s re-rolling, and you get probably as a space marine a 5+ or 6+ armour save that if you pass you're going to have to re-roll. Additionally he can accept chump challenges with a warlock because they are all characters with (generally) a 2+ armour, (always) T4 and a 4+ invul (generally re-rollable). Basicly the unit runs around buffing itself with psychic powers and dropping everyone else down.

The seer star is a Mounted 2 farseers with shard, spears, runes- 6-8 warlocks on jetbikes its a fearless, mostlikely re-rollable 2+cover, 4+ inv, 3+armour it cant be locked because its with the Dark eldar baron and as long as a Dark eldar raider is alive then grisly trophies will give re-rolls to psychic texts. in other words kill raiders then hope they perils to death. The nice thing about my having 4 Psykers is that I'm almost garunteed at least 1 Ignores Cover, which I can give to my Plasma Cannons or Missile Launchers. And once again, Rune Priests are fething awesome against Psykers like that.

I can kill 2 Tanks turn one, almost garunteed, unless I get really bad luck. (Especially if it has rear armor 10.)
Mass numbers sounds like a bigger problem. Even with blast mode on the MLs, I can only kill so many guys per turn.

I'd play a Necron gunline and drop pie-plates on your defense line form 72 inchs away while sending out full warrior squads to capture objectives. That way I can keep your troops in hiding whilst still hitting your Rune Priest.

What gun do Necrons have with 72" range and large blast? What is it mounted on? What is the Strength, and AP? Is it barrage? Does it ignore cover?

So 620 points? The bright side is, if I kill it, that's 1/3 of his army. Is there anything else usually added to the squad to beef it up any more?

Orkses heavy on battlewagonz with shootaboyz will pretty much steamroll you. Not hard to deny melta range, besides, 5+ cover on everyone thanks to kff. Well, even if you down one bw, there are other 2-3 of them that you can't reliably deal with later since all your anti-armor is either close-ranged meltas or s7-8 stuff with no mobility.
You'll have huge probs vs spammed flyers like nightscithes and fast deathstars. Wave serpent spam - you just don't have enough dakka to down them with all that 4+ cover and ignoring penetrating hits.
There's plenty of stuff that you just won't be able to kill playing space wolves. It's gw policy. Buy new stuff to fight new stuff or loose. Not telling bout orkses ofc

The Doomsday ark; st9 ap1 large blast with AV13 all round. It's not barrage and doesn't ignore cover.

Doomsday Arks are 11/11/11 with Quantum Shielding, not 13/13/13.
Either way: Meltaguns in pods. Short Work made of.

Yes you're right, I just find the first pen hit will pretty much destroy it so I just refer to it as an AV13
As for meltapods that's why I'd have it as a gunline so I have (effectively) a defensive bunker of cannon fodder surrounding them. You're odds are still pretty high of taking one or two out but I can fit three in a 1850 list, it wouldn't be a viable list but in this case it'd work.

Couldn't you deepstrike a Monolith or maybe 2 and take the chance that'll you'll hit then use its whole , make a STR check or be removed. It's for each model isnt it? That's the only thing I cna think of that would reliably take out the deathstar seer council. Anything that removes them from game.
It's D6 Inches, but hey worth a shot. I think that would devastate that squad if you pulled it off with two.

You are correct that taking out the seer star does leave you way ahead. But setting as you are a big time shooting army, it will have a tendency to rip through a unit each turn, the weapons are all armourbane and flesh bane. Also, in general the unit only has a 3+ cover of they use hit and run, due to kink and shrouded given by conceal.

I'm pretty sure the "beast pack" type lists would win pretty easily; run up to you turn 1 (or maybe 2) and you'd be in close combat from multi-charges the rest of the game. I don't see anything particularly threatening in close combat here so that might be a problem.
I think anything that's fast melee that could be on you turn 1 or 2 with scout could give you trouble. The probem is, you're not particularly mobile, and a lot of top armies right now are :/

No Wolf Standard because I didn't have the points and I often won't get to use them, no Wolf Guard with combis because I didn't want to be stuck with a mere 2 troops, abd Sternguard because I had 120 points and wanted to take advantage of the Stormraven's transport capacity.
Any advice for dealing with FMC/Flyerspam?
Danny1995: Sounds like it'll come down to who kills who first. (Which will depend on the psychic powers I roll.)
xTHExCLINCHERx: I could always Deep Strike the Grey Hunters defensively if I had to. What are some common Beast Pack units that I might end up facing?

White scars. You would die a horrible horrible tabling against most decent white scar builds. For example my white scar 1850 would whipe the floor with this. Three thunderfire cannons would eat anything you have in the back. Ill have them apread out so you have to choice which ones your going for cause once that greyhunter squad hits the ground they will be usless cause my bikes are just going to kill your stuff. I can have half my army out flank. My storm raven (irion hand allies) and two storm talons will own the air. My chapter master on a bike will bein cc turn two 12 inch turbo boost and 12 inch movement. Followed by another 12 inch movement plus a charge. Oh and by the way he has shield enternal and armor indomance. He also has it wont die since he is irion hands allies. All my bikes carry cover with them (4+ cause i am white scars or 3+ cause i turbo boost)
You dont have a thing that scares me really.

Only 2 melta guns per pod is far from guaranteed. I run a command squad with 5 melta guns in a pod and have had them not kill their target. This is especially true if you go second and Tau/Eldar get their jink save. 33% chance to miss, a low but possible chance of failing to pen, and 50% to not cause an explode. You actually have to be lucky to get 2 exploded tanks.

I reckon my necron list from last year would give you a good scrap. 5 fliers. 18 wraiths. Your rune priest would be good with Jaws, you'd be better having him in a pod. In general, however, you have too many points invested in HQs and not enough dakka. My necron list from last year was a mid tier two list. You need more shooting in your army I think....
