So, how's this work?

It's a flyer that can deep strike.

Does it roll on the mishap table if it lands on something.

Does it count as hovering if it deepstrikes in on your opponents turn?

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

can no longer do so I'm afraid.

To my knowledge, all flyers have had the Deep Strike rules removed from their profiles.

Some of the Forgeworld flyers still have it. The Dreadclaw, Kharybdis and Fire Raptor are a few that come to mind. I think with Kharybdis they spell out exactly how to handle the Deepstrike in the rules for the model but the other two don't have any rules to cover the Deepstrike. I emailed FW about the Dreadclaw specifically as it must Deepstrike and they did clarify that it's a Flyer in Hover mode the turn it arrives (So like a Deep Striking Fast Skimmer) but there isn't anything more concrete then that on how to handle it.

Ah yes, Forgeworld, but they are usually pretty good at giving us answers when it comes to these sort of questions.

Why would this be different for flyers? They can't land on top of models normally, why would it change if could deep strike?

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

If a Flyer can Deep Strike, it deep strikes just like a normal vehicle. it comes in and counts as having moved at Cruising Speed per the rules for deep striking vehicles.

You could bring it on either in Hover or Zoom mode too IIRC unless there is some other rule I missed.

Grey Templar,
It is debatable if they can come in with either mode activated. To my knowledge there are no standard Game Workshop fliers that can deep strike and the rule book doesn't contain Specific Rules for how a flyer deep strikes so there is no 'must be X or Y' in place. However, as another poster here stated, Forgeworld seems to have addressed a handful of their more up-to-date deep-striking fliers by adding the restriction it can only arrive in hover mode. It can be argued that these restrictions only apply to the deep striking fliers mentioned, but it can also be argued they are precedent for older Forgeworld fliers that have yet to be addressed.

Rule as Written though, I would be hard pressed to force an opponent into hover mode if they could deep strike in:
Deep striking vehicles count as having moved at cruising speed, I think, and therefore a flyer counts as having moved more then the minimal needed to keep from crashing and burning.

What if a flier can deep strike but doesn't have a hover mode such as the Barracuda.

Unfortunately they do not count as having moving Cruising Speed until the Shooting phase. In the Movement phase they are considered to have moved, but there is no known displacement.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I've run into this question with the Nightwing, we always played it as the Flyer landing in Zooming mode and counting as having moved to where it hits (landing with any facing), it mishaps if it scatters off the board but if it scatters into impassible terrain or models nothing happens because the Flyer ignores impassible terrain and models.

Fliers do not ignore models. At all. It's the easiest way to kill them.

For you 'nid players, maybe, though it still is hilarious to watch a flyer fall out of the sky because there where too many targets on the ground.
