Has anyone tried Chimeras with Psybolt Ammo and Heavy Bolters from Codex: Inquisition? If you take them as your primary you can ally another army, and then take an additional Inquisitorial detachment allowing you up to 6 Chimeras w/psybolt. 3 would be good enough for me, as having C:I as my primary would be annoying.

For 90 Points you get six S6 AP4 shots at 36" and 10 S4 AP5 shots at 24". Seems like a decent bargain for the amount of firepower it can put out, and the AV12 hull isn't terrible. You can knock them down to a min of 72 points if you don't want anyone shooting from the inside and just go with the 3 basic acolytes. Compared to the Psyback you're getting more shots, a higher AV, and 5 models shooting out of the hatch, but no TL and no S7...

Waste of points, or decent unit?

It's pretty decent, but I'd go with 4 acolytes with storm bolters and 2 jekaero.
Gives you a bit more dakka, and you can pump out a pair of lascannons shots as well.

Inquisitor with liber heresius and combi-plasma
3 acolytes with plasma guns
Chimera with psybolts and 2 hb

Outflanks with 8 st7 ap2 plasma gun shots, 2 of these at bs4 (with outflank it will be in rapid fire range) and 6 st6 ap4 shots...

Personally, I've always toyed with fielding 3 servitors with Hb in a chimera with a non upgraded inquisitor (or maybe with prescience). 115pts or 145 for 15 HB shots, 6 of them at str 6. Throw in a jokaero or two and pray for Rending.

There's a forge world Chimera that can take Twin-linked Heavy bolters on top along with the one on the hull. That with Psy-bolt ammo would be pretty great.

Inquisition chimera cannot take the TL bolter or the Autocannon turret.

It's just a standard HB on the turret and hull with psybolt. Can't move and fire both at full BS, but it's dirt cheap for AV12 and 6 shots as S6 AP4. That has good synergism with plasma guns which are also very inexpensive. Dakka away while still at targets at ranges of 30 to 36, or 18 to 24. When 12 to 18 or 24 to 30 advance 6 to get the plasma guns in single or double tap range.

The inquisitor is probably better off in an allied squad, but works ok in a transport.

The only time I would ever put a jokoro in a transport is if the inquisitor is in the transport to prescience the crew. If that's the case the 5 fire slots should be jokoro, plasma gun, and 3 multi melta servitors.

My preferred loadouts are 3 plasma guns, 1 bolter or storm bolter, and 4 psykers. The psykers won't force a break test if they perils inside the transport.

4 Seems to be an optimal number for me because it wounds t4 on a 2+, ignores 3+ saves, and remains cheap + optimal for anti infantry. Higher str for anti vehicle gets real expensive, and if it's a high AV vehicle the plasma guns won't do much good against it. The cost also needs to remain low because you're going to buy 2 or 3 of these units.

If you don't like psykers 3 plasma guns and 2 bolters are pretty cheap.

I'm building my Inquisitorial detachment and now I'm seriously looking at this Chimera deal. It sounds pretty sweet.
