well, people of a page on fb made these homebrew rules for a chimera variant.
i am interested in any general opinion on it, what do you think? is it fair, or too strong? are the rules okay or should something be changed? if yes, what?

NOTE: when thinking about the power level, keep in mind that orgyns cannot charge when exiting a chimera, so as an orgyn combat taxi its pretty useless. also, terminators or the like cannot enter it, as the rules forbid even battle brothers entering an allied transport.

I like it. The only thing that really passed through my mind was the capacity. I'd put it at 18 just because that's a more reasonable evolution from the Chimera's 12.

well, its intended to be a transport for a combined squad, hence 20... 18 would be pretty useless, as it would give you virtually no benefit (not counting ogryns for the already stated reasons)...
a chimera with tcap 18 could fit what? an infantry squad with a commissar? so can one with 12. i agree on the rise being a bit steep, but it had to for the rules to actually be useful and work out as intended.

Why not allow for some sort of contingency for carrying multiple squads? For instance this could carry a Platoon command group or company command squad with a squad of Veterans to escort them... or two small squads of Storm Troopers.

20 is a good non complicated way of going about it in my opinion. Thats pretty cool.

while the idea itself is not bad, it does make the vehicle pretty strong. (imagine things like two squads of veterans, and by the current rules of chimeras all 6 special weapons firing out of it? holy crap!)

i do think the single squad capacity as-is now is better, the only special thing you will be able to do with cap 20 will be carrying a combined squad of 20 regular dudes. which is neat, but not OP.

it's just a 12-10-10 tank with 20 capacity. I'd allow multiple squads but to be honest, it's much more preferable to ride in 2 chimeras. Cause they're deathtraps. It'd be nice if you made it 13-12-10 or something. With increased cost ofc.

hell yeah to deathtraps
but about the armour thing, you may be right, but an armour increase of that level would lower the transport capacity, and then we would be back on a "regular chimera with higher armour" instead of "regular chimera with higher transport capacity"....
