Hey, I'm just getting into the gaming portion of 40k. One of my friends plays Space Wolves, so I'm tailoring this army to battle him. Here's How I'm thinking of arranging my units for the first game. Questions and comments are welcome, and sought, as I am new.

My army is a warband of The Purge, as I love the fluff about their use (and love of) Blight Grenades.

HQ: Chaos Lord
Mark of Nurgle
Gift of Mutation
Blight Grenades
Power Fist
Combi-Melta
VoTLW

Troops: 6 Plague Marines
2 Plasma Guns
VoTLW
Aspiring Champion takes:
Lightning Claw
Combi-Bolter

Troops: 5 Chaos Space Marines
Mark of Nurgle
1 Icon of Despair
1 Flamer
VoTLW
Aspiring Champion takes
Power Fist
Melta Bombs
Dedicated Transport with
Havoc Launcher
Dirge Caster
Destroyer Blades

Fast Attack: 5 Raptors
Mark of Nurgle
2 Melta Guns
VoTLW
Aspiring Champion takes
2 Power Fists
Melta Bombs

Heavy Support: 3 Obliterators
Mark of Nurgle
VoTLW

And that brings the army to 999 points.
-Cheers!

Fantastic, one more smelly bastard.

Kidding aside, you're like a suburban mom with a dessert menu with these upgrades. The key to mastering CSM is to decide which units need redundancy, and which ones need to take which upgrades, because THERE ARE SO MANY UPGRADES HOLY GAMES WORKSHOP.

Your Lord is basically a 3-wound sergeant. Give him tactical use or combat use, or just take him bare bones because 1 HQ is required and you need to make your PMs troops.

Don't take a full initiative weapon on your PM sergeant. Hes attacking last anyway so just give him a power axe or fist.

BY FAR your biggest point sink here is your 5 CSM. You're paying for PMs, take them.

Raptors are outdone in about everything by bikes

take the oblits as 3 solo oblits.
