So about a week ago or even a little less I got the Island of Blood set so that I could start a Skaven army. I have been painting the clan rats and have 34 done right now. I decided to do the last 6 in one sitting and have gotten to the weapons and I only have 4 it seems. So 2 of the rats will be without weapons. I have already used a battle standard and the mallet arm for the musician. So a few weapons seem to be missing? I am not really sure, there is another battle standard it seems that doesn't go with any of the other models. I didn't want to use 2 battle standards though but even if I did use that I am still missing one arm.

Is this normal?

You might be missing one of the arms with the hand bell as well.
I would just put the extra standard (maybe shaped to a spear) and then leave the other one armless for now until you require some extra bits.

The sprue only comes with enough bits to arm the clan rats as seen on the front of the box, no extras. So for now you will either have to use both standard/musician arms or have a few armless.

There are two units of clanrats so 2* musos, 2* Standard, 2* champs.

One unit with hand weapons, one unit with spears.

From what I remember.

Correct.

It doesn't matter though. I actually quite like my second standard 3-4 ranks into the unit. It looks quite cool, and whfb isn't wysiwyg enough for it to matter.

See how they have banners waving at regular intervals in this picture? It just makes the unit look alive. And the back ranks can't hear the front musician to march by, so it makes sense if there is a musician halfway towards the back.

As Purifier says, my units often feature a lots of banners as was the case in historical armies, because it looks awesome, it also makes my elite units *cough* easy to recognize for my opponent (Slaves don't sport banners)

I got it all sorted out, thanks guys!

Sadly here where I am going to be playing it is what you see is what you get so I can't really get much customization with just the starter set.

Even tournaments aren't that strict with wysiwyg with that in WHFB. Cut down a spear to a pointy stick and it's certainly a hand weapon. Cut it off and make a green-stuff flame on it and it's a torch... which is clearly a hand weapon.
Hand weapon in fantasy can be anything from a broken beer bottle to a finely forged blade. It's not like in 40k where a chainsaw is a specific weapon and guns have very specific looks depending on what kind of weapon they are and even each combi weapon has to be modeled on there.

And even then, the BRB's version of WYSIWYG is "Majority of the unit has to have the weapon stated in the profile".

I wish it was less strict, but this is the only place I even know of to play in town so when I begin playing I will have to deal with it I suppose. Or instead of another stater set I could just get 2 boxes of clanrats.
