Hello everyone,

It's been quite a while since I've been on Dakka and posted something (about 2 to 3 months.) I got a new job and that's been keeping me tied up recently.

[Recasting info redacted by Moderator. Please do not encourage recasters.]

I plan to play the models with the new IG codex coming up, so I'm sure that most infantry rules won't be dramatically changed. What should I buy next?
Or better yet, what should my platoons have to make them effective fighting units?

I hope to get some much needed answers soon.

Thanks!

It is hard to say. One of the big rumors is that veteran squads will lose one of their special weapons, but there hasn't been a lot leaked regarding how platoons will work (or if they will even be in the codex).

Are you going to use any armor in your army? If so, build some tanks over the next few weeks as those likely won't change much between codicies.
Some priests or commissars wouldn't be a bad idea, as platoons will likely need the leadership boost. A few heavy weapons squads would also likely be a safe purchase, especially if you aren't going to use much armor in your army. But, you're asking codex specific questions for a book that hasn't been released so it is anyone's guess.

I do have one Commissar so far. In regards to tanks, I do plan on getting at least 4 or five of them. Maybe even a flyer or two. I did hear that the new codex will remove flyer squads of valkyries and such, so Idk how viable those will be.

I think people are really curious how the Valkyrie/Vendetta will be treated in the new codex. Hopefully they won't be nerfed so hard that they are unplayable, but they may not be as good as they currently are--especially the Vendetta which is a bargain for what it can do.

Cool, if you plan on getting some tanks perhaps focus on those for the time being.

They Hydra is getting a new kit with this release, so I'd avoid getting the FW one. Are you able to magnetize your models? The Leman Russ and Hellhound kits lend themselves to magnetization pretty well so you could build and magnetize the models and then when the codex comes out you will be in a strong position option-wise.

I'd just wait for the codex to come out. It's going to be soon and then we'll know for sure.

Anyways, I've taken a leap of faith and ordered up some DKoK models from those Chinese websites where they are dirt cheap compared to FW prices.

These are illegal recasts. Don't be TFG.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
