I got this in a box of stuff from a trade, it contains 4 minis and plastic arms and bases. The blister is a bit battered but still sealed.

Is it worth anything? I'm tempted to open it cos the minis look cool though I don't really have a use for them other than the fun of painting them. who doesn't like old school imperial guard right? Of course if they have any value I could always use the money.

I've checked on eBay but no one seems to have sold anything similar other than some odd minis from the pack.

Thanks for any help

Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

Almost anything imperial from RT will have some value. It could be over $50 or it could be $12. Depends on what it is.

A picture would help.

These guys? No idea on a price, but they don’t match the modern aesthetic at all unfortunately. Would be useful for someone doing a retro regiment.

Thems the fellas! The top 4 in the first picture. The goatee on the captain is amazing

I've noticed the price of old stuff seems directly in line with how well it fits with the new stuff. I've found the RT and 2nd ed orks are much cheaper than other armies of the period, I can only assume because they don't scale well.

Nice figures

Definately have a value, and that is increased by being in the blister - there is a small sector of collectors who pay a premium for stuff being in blisters.

I would make a very rough guess that you'd get about £10 for a blister on Ebay, could sell a bit cheaper, could go a lot more depending on whether you get 2 keen collectors chasing it. Or go and check out the trade sections of Lead Adventure Forum or the Oldhammer groups - both those sites get a lot of classic collector traffic.

Umm I mean, no, worth nothing, in fact it could contain a deadly virus, you'd be better getting them disposed of - PM me for an address to send it to.

Oh no! I don't want to catch lead rot!

Lead Adventure Forum, I'll check it out. I'd like to see these minis go to someone who'll have some real use for them, even if it is just to help complete a collection

I've just been looking at the blister again, seems there's 5 minis. I can only see the tab of the 5th but it says he's a medic.

Sounds right. I picked up that blister back when it was new, and it came with one. I modded him into a com trooper. Guys are still on the shelf.

I have that commander as my Guard platoon hq leader.

With modern arms (pointing hand from cadian hwt) and holding a pistol with his left hand (held low beside him). Like he's bellowing orders.

But my guard are "colonial militia" (pretorians) and he fits their aesthetic.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Awesome thanks man! It's good to see some painted up, my willpower is diminishing...

I found all 5 minis on CCM:

http://www.collecting-citadel-miniatures.com/wiki/index.php/Imperial_Guard_-_1988_to_1994#1989_Catalogue_Page_4010_Imperial_Guard

Looks like the Commander, Sergeant, Captain, Standard Bearer and Medic.

Haha I think the same thing about most of the modern stuff multi pose plastic IG? No thanks!

Pretty much the only recent stuff I've liked was the Chaos in Dark Vengeance, not that I've bought any. Different strokes for different folks and all that.

If you find any more "terrible sculpts" taking up space let me know and I'll see if I can provide a good home

Them being horrible is part of the charm. I keep an eye out on Ebay for old things like that, knowing that they DO look horribly misshapen most of the time.

RT era stuff was more for the fun then for what most spoiled kids are in on these days. The cookie cutter army didn't exist yet, and you had to make due with what was on hand.

THOSE figures to me are manna from heaven, BTW.

If you don't want them, PM me and lets get them the home that they need.

The figures honestly make 110% sense if you have the old RT era book, with the Necromunda 8th spiders that they belong to. This was one of the first regimentals that they had on hand, and along with that, they had the templates for the members in the RT era book. You were not beholden to the tired azz GW way of "compulsorily" paint by numbers armies that they devolved into.

I have these guys, a BOXED set of around 30 men, and heavy weapons platforms, as well as heavy weapons sections of Thudd guns, Mole Mortars, and Rapier systems.

Add in the Squats that I'd picked up along the way as auxiliaries, and that some good eating.

Counter that with the base boxed set of Orks, and you can have a really good time with the old school battle of the farm/ village that you can evolve the game to. The old RT era game had a script very similar to the Necromunda gang sheets, and you evolved the army as you went through he campaign.

I really dig them, btw. that was what drew me into 40K back then.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Bobble headed Cadians and muscle bound Catachans were such an improvement.

Yeah....the good old days when you put your 90pt lascannon on your Lieutenant , Captain or Colonel because he could have a targeter and had ok BS, since, after all, the weapon cost the same for him as for a BS3 grunt that couldn't take suspensors eiyher and thus had -1 to M as well.

Let's not get entirely lost in the rosy glow of the past :-)

The metal Catachans are pretty decent sculpts, even if they are baby ogryns.

Woops. Your post right after the one above it sounded like you were calling me out. Not that it takes much to prompt me to grab the camera and snap a few pics of the old stuff on the shelf. I enjoy my role as a living ancestor, keeping the history and traditions of our hobby alive.
