Subject: Warhammer 40K Video Bat Rep #218 Triple Knight Titan vs Dark Eldar
Frankie decides to call out the Knight Titans in an 1850pt Battle Report! His tournament winning Dark Eldar and eldar vs. Tastey Taste's Knights and Ultra Marines!
Well that was close! Cool to see a batrep with more than 1 knight too, I think taken as a single Knight they won't be as effective. But of course, this coming from someone who hasn't yet played with them

That actually seemed like a really fair and close game. It also seemed like both players had fun and no one was left not able to counter something in the others list. Could this be game balance?

Well that was very entertaining. I'm pretty sure if these hit the tournament scene that they will bust open a new meta as you're going to have to put stuff in your armies to deal with them. Three seem like the perfect number as it still allows you to fill out the rest of your army with good support units. Thanks for the report guys!

Three is definitely the magic number. One or two is no bueno. The trick will be figuring out the right combination of allies to support it. Not something I've spent a lot of time thinking about myself.
jy2 wrote: To me, 3 is overkill. You never really need more than 2 knights, just like you don't really need more than 2 held rakes.
Great job by Tastytaste nonetheless.
Just seems way too easy to take out to me. I've faced one and it went down without trying very hard. Two would be no sweat. Three is more complicated in my view. Time will tell. I've no plans to play them any time soon.
Thanks for the batrep guys. I love hearing how knights are performing.
I'm a little confused on the Knights when they died. I thought they automatically exploded with Str.D which is why I was surprised to see so many guys left after the combats.
the Str D is a large balst centered on where the knight was. Assuming it doesnt scatter it wont actually hit much as the knight takes up a large portion of the area.

Yeah, the explosions is random and it scatters. We have only ever had it do something cool once, the rest of the time it isn't that bad.
And the Knights are honestly really balanced. We've played them a lot so far and they are fun, and pretty damn fair in the game. The only real change most folks will have to make is to add some more AT and Melta Bombs and it will be no issue.
Its nice to see some solid battle reports using the knights against competitive armies, everyone is so scared and complaining about the knights without ever playing with them. Knights are a blast to run but certainly not the auto win button the internet wants you to believe
It seems like there is enough room for plenty of extras with a dual or trip knight list, and taking them as Primary to get the 3+ Ion Shield on the Seneshchal seems like a really good idea.
Now we just need some Chaos knight kits so we can play KNIGHTHAMMER.

I've never liked these battle reports, I feel like they should have more content and explanation instead of a few guys unprofessionally bantering about stuff that happened in the last turn.
The knights look really powerful but I think the space marine player picked some poor choices. Assault marines are awful (especially in hammer and anvil) and his list obviously didn't have enough troops. I think knights belong in shooty lists where they take most of the punishment while the backline guys dish out damage without worrying about explosions from the knight.

Gee whiz dude, why don't you tell us how you really feel. Don't hold back or anything, just really let 'er rip!
these IG knights to me are bad, they take up to many points and to easy to kill,to me they are a fancy head pieace,i fear the riptide and wriathknight more than these things,

Are we supposed to just ignore things we dislike? I expressed my opinion and so far no one has gone farther then passive aggressive sarcasm in response. I'm a big fan of Reece and everything he does for the hobby, however I want more from his FLG cronies and his batreps. They could have amazing quality and depth like the ones created by miniwargaming and spiketbits but instead are cut to little snitbits of post-action carnage. Who just wants to watch highlights (if you can call the post-turn explanations that) Without replays of important moments in the games? Try some argumentation you upper class nerds. What are we, FPS gamers?
Assault marines are sadly, awful. This just isn't their edition or codex, it is a sad fact that I as a Space Marine player have to admit to every day. Try running them one day against shooty eldar or tau lists, or out combat Chaos, and Nid MCs. They are fluffy but not a lot of fun unless they can somehow manage to get that random backline infantry troop choice holding an objective.
Reece you are amazing man, I loved the LVO, and all of our articles but please, please try a new bat rep format? Once? Also if you do have longer and more in depth batreps that show the action I would love a link to them and the email of everyone involved in this batrep so I can formally apologize to them.

I dunno. I like the shorter bat reps. I don't need to see every die roll or every turn broken down to get a feel for how the game went.

Wouldn't you like to know why the game went the way it did? Was it the mad skillz of the general? Was it the dice? Why did you go there instead of here etc?
I've seen and read batreps where I have been left wondering if half of the units did anything.

I have a life and enjoy my batreps not being 30 minutes long.
So, no. Them showing just the post-turn highlights works perfectly.

Implying that you have more of a life then I do while posting on a hobbyist forum isn't a very strong argument. I agree if watching long batreps isn't the kind of thing for your lifestyle then these would be great for you. However we all "have a life" which just so happens to consist of copious amounts of acrylic paints and plastic figures. Unless you're only here for the babes?

Reecius has the best video batreps. They are the perfect length with lots of tactical discussion. The humor is great too. I rarely ever watch a rep that is over 20-25 minutes. I've got a life!

Insulting Reece's gaming group multiple times isn't a very strong argument either, which is why I threw that comment in there; I was mirroring your gakky attitude to prove a point.

You didn't throw that comment in to prove a point, considering one other person also shares your sentiment about "having a life" you meant exactly what you said. No need to save face on the Internet it really makes you look silly. As for the "insulting reece's buddies" that is exactly how I view them. His buddies, his friends, all playfully bantering in a video using his professional logo "frontlinegaming". Their humor I dont find funny or entertaining, it was an opinion not an insult and I know they wouldn't care about what I say because it is there style and it obviously draws in viewers. If you are going to complain about a lack of well-reasoned arguments you should formulate some of your own first.

If you don't like our bat reps, that is fine, we don't expect everyone to. We purposely make ours very short so that they are easily digested and try to just show the information that folks need to understand what happened.
You may enjoy other bat reps that provide more of a cinematic experience more, which is totally fine. I get that. You just presented your criticism in a really rude way that tends to turn people off. If you had been a bit more polite about it, it wouldn't have made other people act defensively.
So I have to ask. Whats the deal with Frankies Dark Eldar? They were fully painted and bit by bit have become less painted somehow haha, did he fall behind on his payments for a paintjob and Reece is repo'ing the them color by color?
