In the renegades and heretics army list in imperial armour 7, mortars can be upgraded with chemical shells. In the weapon profile it says, "Heavy 1, Blast, Poisoned". No mention of barrage, like with regular mortar shells.

Does this mean that it just fires like a missile launcher and that you have to draw LoS?

It just seems to me that it should still fire like a mortar (since you're still using the mortar model, only changing the shells, and they have the same range).

How would you play this, simply Rules as Written?

Or have I missed something somewhere about mortars in general?

Firing mortars over the shoulder doesn't seem right to me.

Thanks

Check the FW faqs, they might have made an update. That IA book is hopelessly outdated.

Personally, I would use them like regular mortars, with poisoned. Obviously that would really only fly in a friendly environment.

Unfortunately thee was never an FAQ covering IA7. You could always e-mail FW. Unlike certain other gaming companies I could name, they do respond. It just takes a few days.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

on the forum. Obviously

For the range, is there a G in front of the number? They might be using the old way of denoting barrages.

Afraid not. This is the entry;

I only play in friendly environments, so I'm sure it would be fine to use them like mortars, I just don't really like having to ask. I'd worry that it'd seem like I'm trying to gain advantage or something.

I'll maybe try emailing FW.
