Apparently they'll have these at Salute - some counts-as Struthid Cavalry for all those who convert Genswick Foot IG armies?

Hmmm, Praetorian elite cavalry?

Something to mark them out from the common horse riding peasants!

If there are at least three variant poses I'm in.

Heh, I read 'horse riding pheasants', which makes for a nice mental image.

Too big.

Pretty, though.

If they have some more actively posed variants then they would make quite the imposing squad!

I think insaniak is right in saying that they are too big though. Actual terror birds of Earth were much smaller than that, still giant beasties but I don't think they got taller than 10ft which would be a perfect size for a 40k counts-as. That being said though they are a great model even if the rider does seem to be fitted onto the bird oddly.

Wow, looks pretty neat to me! I like the size, personally- makes it more convincing that it could easily carry a person around. It might make it a little large for counts-as purposes... but am I really going to tell someone not to use those models? Of course not, I'd love to face them and heck, they'd just be easier to shoot at that way.

If there's a variety of poses, like 3 as has been said. These shall be my demigryph riders as they fit my back water themed army perfectly.

Kind regards,

Where is the shop for these guys? The link is just a blog.

I just put my current cavalry in the sale pile to get these instead. So cool.

Same here. I love my Moa Riders, so glad I was able to score a set.

They'd need bigger wings for Joust.

Man, I loved that game.

I like quite a few of Blight Wheels' offerings, but it's a shame that quite a few items appear to be out of stock, and there's a severe lack of scale shots and fully-painted examples of their infantry. The Hel'ington stuff in particular looks really neat, but without knowing what a full squad looks like or how it looks next to comparable heroic-scale figs, I'm hesitant to place an order.

Very nice. the birdies maybe a tad big but still nice.

Armyman i like Blightwheel stuff, got a few bits of late. A lil small compared to gw Cadians but fine vs Kreig or Elysians from fw. Works well size wise with Brettonian figs for converted guard as well.

Nice to hear. When I get some free cash, I might make a small test order.

I second this. If anyone who has their stuff can post some pics in the relevant forum, I'd appreciate it.

Also I wish some of their stuff would come back in stock. It would look great in my Dark Mechanicus army...

I'll dig up the stuff later on tonight (Maybe!)...

IN the meantime, as noted above, I hope Blight Wheel makes the rider sit more 'on' the bird rather than kind of/sort of "in" the bird!

I actually kinda dig the "in the bird" effect. Feathers are fluffy! A saddle would have to squish down the feathers to get to the actual bird, kinda like your head sinking into a pillow...

ETA- that effect would be perfect with some feathers floating over the tops of the legs/saddle. As is it does look like too hard of a line.

I've wanted terror bird rough riders for a long time. These are close to what I want...

But I want bigger and fiercer in the beak, plumed and with a smaller body.

Something more like these:
