So did forgeworld forget about this or are they finishing the models in it? I have gotten a skaven army ready with this book but my girl who plays vamps wants her titan before we play. So did forgeworld fail to finish or is it still in the works? If they quit I would not recommend buying any of there books because all you get is pretty pictures you can get for free of the net.

Unfortunately, once the Horus Heresy Series started, pretty much everything else has been put on the back burner.

They have the odd release every now and then, but I would not hold my breath for anything, especially in fantasy from FW.

They did preview the dread saurian recently though. Its just a shame that they are all working so hard on marine shoulderpads when their fantasy sculpts blow the GW studio's out of the water.

They recently posted on Facbook that the dread saurian should be out in a month or two (their page appears to be broken or I'd link straight to it).

Yeah I am pretty disapointed since I bought the whole chaos dwarf army, the skaven, ork, fw SB skellie, and death gaurd. Then they dirty me like this :(

It's true that it would be nice to have more WHFB FW releases
But if you look at the Necrolith colossus for instance, it's just a big pile of cemetery garbage cobbled together ... How hard is it to scratch-build that ? Same for the Ork idols (even if it has a model)

Is there any specific reason why the Horus Heresy range has taken over forgeworld to such an extent? I check the FW site weekly for any new updates, and I swear it's been nothing but Horus Heresy models for as long as I remember, perhaps for a year or so. I can't remember the last non-Horus-Heresy release they did. I mean, fair do's if you're in to Horus Heresy - but having it all that to the exclusion of anything else does seem a bit weird.

Because it sells ... and because the guys have the opportunity to be creative in a whole setting

I guess it must sell a lot more than all the rest then, I guess I can't argue with that. I think it's just strange it's gone so completely Horus Heresy, y'know, one or two other models every now and again would be much appreciated I'm sure.

Are there really that many left for them to release models for? I can only think of the k'daii destroyer.

Sales, an Sales alone.

I have to assume their existing sales were skewed very heavily towards Imperial Guard and Space Marines. As such while they wanted to develop Fantasy lines they couldn't do so at the expense of their main lines.

Although I get the impression Forge World is making a lot more content than they used to in general, so while Fantasy is a small percentage of what comes out, its not like they aren't producing a reasonable amount of fantasy stuff. They've got infantry, vehicles, and monsters for quite a few factions. I'm not entirely satisfied, but I'm not exactly putting their kids through school so I don't have a say.

I mean lets be honest, the people who get no love from Forge World are Middle Earth players. What was the last thing they got? Weathertop which must have been the better part of a decade ago.

Forgeworld is doing a lot of work in pushing out that Horus Heresy content, so it won't be their focus forever. I'd say a few more years and they'll be done. Then I'd surprised if they didn't want to shift focus to Fantasy more. Probably do some Time of Legends oriented stuff. Long term I think there will be a wealth of fantasy content.

Rumour is they're doing Smaug .

That's still only one scenery piece and the rumor of a single monster. That's hardly support for the game.

But I've never bought any Lord of the Rings stuff, so if I represent a fair part of the community that's probably the reason why.

FW Open Day confirmed that there are no current plans for anything Fantasy related. Even the last few releases were done by sculptors in their free time at home, because they were tired of sculpting Space Marine shoulder pads at work and needed some challenging project for their self respect.

Book 3 is definitely not the last - they've only got to the end of Istvaan V - roughly the same point as the end of the third novel in the BL HH series, which is up to volume 25 or so and counting.

They're not going to make dozens of them. I'm going to guess 2-3 more. Five books is enough to finish introducing all the legions and then some, then they can do a sixth one for the Siege of Terra campaign wrapping it up nicely. This was written a trilogy. Presumably there will be two trilogies. One opening the Heresy, one closing it. If they were doing 3 trilogies they would have done 2 Legions per book and more other stuff, but they didn't they did four Legions per book and less other stuff. 18 Legions into 9 Books works perfectly. 18 Legions into Six books works for 3. 18 Legions into Five books works for 4.

After this trilogy they're cutting back to only 2 legions it seems. Books 4, 5 and 6 are Calth (UIltramarines and probably some more corrupted Word Bearers stuff, plus probably some Mechanicum), Prospero (Space Wolves, Thousand Sons, Sisters of Silence and Custodes) and Signus (Blood Angels, daemons). So that still leaves two more legions past those books, plus plenty more if they really want to flesh out the setting (more Mechanicus, period specific xenos, Imperial Army (we know how they love Guard), etc). The Heresy series will go for at least 5 more books after this trilogy, I'd guess.

I'm still patiently waiting for the next three throne of chaos expansions...

On the plus side, in a year or so they'll have cut back to just WHFB and 40k. No more Lord of the Rings/Hobbit content. No specialist games (shock).

Either the edition turn over will be even faster or they'll add more books and flesh it out. I think that's why we're starting to see the supplements stuff. I think those will start coming out with 9th Edition for Fantasy as well.

Did they say that? I thought Tamurkhan was one of the best books FW ever did.

The new Wood Elf army book has something mentioned as an offhand that I want to see Forge World do.

In regards to FW and their books, they've been shifting (or at least trying to) away from multi-book plotlines and the like with the obvious exception of the Horus Heresy series.

IA8 was supposed to be a two part arc with the failed Imperial raid on Kastorel Novem and the second book being the Elysians and Raven Guard starting defensive operations against the Ork Waagh!.
IA12 was also supposed to be a two part arc, with the first book focusing on the Necron Tomb awakening...and the second book being Dark Eldar taking advantage of the disastrous awakening of a Necron Tomb to start raiding the system.

But yes...giant honking magic squirrel. Get on it, FW!
