Greetings everyone, and welcome to my Infinity project log.

First off, I must acknowledge the fact that I am a total noob to this game. I'm a long time 40k player, and it wasn't until about a month ago that I was introduced to Infinity at my local hobby shop. When it comes to modeling and painting I have a tendency to be overly obsessive with little details which means my projects can take a lot longer than most. Though this trait has been the bane of many a 40k army in my past, I think it should be less of a curse for my Infinity project since I can go crazy on detail and still produce a force for a standard game. This project is going to be slow for starters due to limited income/time/etc and a Space Marine army that has most of my spare attention. I am (hopefully) starting a new job within the week which should grant me the spare funds to make some serious progress, but that all depends on my interview this Friday

Anyways, here is where things begin. My wonderful girlfriend bought me my first Infinity mini for my birthday and I have to say I am very excited to get to painting it.

I really like the Bootleg line of minis (likely something to do with the scantily clad women), and I love to covert my minis so this presented me an opportunity to add some flavor to my PanO army. I'll need to get my hands on the lower half of the standard Cutter (anyone who might have some spare Cutter legs out there?). Some sawing, filing, and a few pins ought to do the trick and then I can get down to painting. Anyone with experience converting Infinity minis, your input here will be appreciated.

I will be using Citadel paints for this project. I'm leaning towards a Hot Rod Red style paint scheme all around. From my limited knowledge of the fluff that seems to be a NeoTerran style, though I don't intend on using a NT Sectorial list.

Well, that's all for now. I hope to get some more updates here in the next week or so. In the mean time I am going to organize a 40k plog for my Astartes.

Cheers

I'm excited to how you're going to finish everything.
I do have to say that if you're interested, Giraldez (the guy that paints the minis) has started on a similar project, though he hasn't finished it I think (maybe just one of another faction).

So here's a link to the picture of the cutter combined with the bootleg model if you need it, but please don't feel spoiled, that's not the intention:

Can you get access to any legs, or will you have to buy a new cutter?

Thanks for the pics, soulcow. I had actually been digging around for an image like that for a while.

I skimmed some of the work of Giraldez. Top notch stuff. I doubt my painting will be on par with his, but I can dream

It's likely I will have to buy a Cutter and cannibalize it, but getting the top half as a gift should take some of the financial sting away. I'm sure I can figure out a 40k application for the remaining bits. My buddy has a Tau army I'm working on for him and the Cutter could make for an epic Battlesuit HQ conversion.

Here is an unpack of the cutter so you can see it parts http://penofpenemue.blogspot.ca/2013/08/unpacking-panoceania-cutter.html

Please don't use the cutter for 40k. Some of the tau stuff can proxy for things in Infinity, for a while. You may find that you want to paint the Tech-bee as a display piece too.

Scantily clad...hmm, Nomads then, the faction for you

Thanks for the feedback Red. I may just have to paint the Tech-Bee and convert it down the road when I have money to drop on a Cutter. And I like the Nomads, but for now I want to stick with PanO because there is already a Nomad player amongst the small Infinity group that introduced me to the game. Maybe when I inevitably expand my collection

I've been thinking over the details of this project and decided on a 150 point starter list. I've based this mainly on affordability and what minis I like the most. Although I said previously I do not intend on a NeoTerran Sectorial list I may simply be in denial. Here is what I have so far.

Bolt Lt. w/ CR&LS (C:22)

Bolt w/ CR&LS (C:22)

Bolt w/ CR&LS (C:22)

Aquila Guard w/ MR (C:59)

Auxilia w/ CR (C:14)

Auxilia w/ CR (C:14)

C:153

I didn't use the army builder for this list, I pieced it together from multiple sources. Please let me know if any of my points costs are off.

Here are links for the two box sets I would purchase for this list:
http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/en/2014/miniatures/neoterran-capitaline-army/
http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/en/2011/miniatures/auxilia/

Although this list is lacking any neat tricks and I haven't spent any of my SWC I think it will serve me well as I learn the dynamics of the game. The Bolts are awesome models and their stat line looks pretty good. The Auxilia are inexpensive (both in financial and point cost), and the minis are also pretty cool. And flamethrowers. Then there is the Aquila Guard. Another awesome model and from what I gather a solid HI choice who can pick off camo enemies and has access to different munitions. I like that I can build this list out of two box sets rather than having to piece it together with a string of purchases and I will have a Spitfire Hexas and Missile Launcher Swiss Guard to work into future lists.

I'm open to any advice but I don't want to gouge into my finances any more than necessary for my starter list. One thought I have is whether or not I should field the Aquila Guard or the Hexas. That frees up some points, uses some of my idle SWC, and gives me some more firepower. In that case I could add something like a Kamau Hacker.

Instead of speculating all day I will open the floor for some C&C.

Cheers

So a little update. Started the day off on a good foot with a healthy breakfast.

Okay, so not the healthiest but definitely delicious.

After that I went looking for some inspiration for painting my Tech-Bee. Here's what I'm thinking.

Finally, I based my Tech-Bee.

About 3 layers of watered down Adeptus Battlegray. Still some shiny spots, but I'll take care of those when I get to painting. Hooray for having a tank brush

After my shift today I intend on getting some base colors down.

Cheers

Saw that first photo and thought maybe you were a rabbit.

Take your time and enjoy painting the tech-bee. There is a lot to that model. No need to rush painting Infinity stuff, since you don't need to paint several hundred to play.

Meat is the staple of my diet. I only add vegetables to assert my dominance over the food groups. If it were not fatally unhealthy I would live on four square meals of bacon a day.

I definitely intend on taking my time with this this mini. Base coating it only made all the little details more apparent. Speaking of, here's some photo progress.

My iPhone does a good job at taking awful close ups but I tried to get the most detail possible. I've made some decent headway on my base colors and started doing darker washes. Kinda got zoned in on the Tech-Bee more than the Cutter but he will get plenty of attention too.

I have to admit, I haven't painted a lot of faces in my day. Eyes are going to be a big challenge for me as my hands aren't always the steadiest. But I'm having a lot of fun painting this, and I want to get it up to the best quality I can. Let me know what you all think so far and what could be improved. My painting is pretty rusty.

Cheers

I do love me some Cutters.

Yeah, you are going to be hard pressed to find a spare set of anything for a Cutter to cut up. The only thing I can recommend is checking eBay and swap shops to see if you can get one that is terribly painted or missing arms or something for dirt cheap. Otherwise you're going to be paying full price.

I do like the red look you're going for. Having vowed never to paint a red force again I can only enjoy it through the brushes of others. (Half lie, since my Ariadnan forces are half-red).

Looking forward to more!

Oh, and the pictures aren't loading right on my comp, so I logged onto my phone to check them out. If you get a chance to use Dakka's gallery function to upload pictures I highly recommend it. And it helps to make sure everyone can see the cool stuff you're working on.

I think the Cutter will need to wait for a while. If I happen upon something for cheap that fits the bill I'll definitely snatch it up, but for now I think I should focus on getting at least 150 points painted.

Glad you like the choice in color. Haven't painted this much red since I painted my first army (Blood Angels) a decade ago. I saw the Ferrari picture while I was googling and yeah.

I checked on my laptop and the pictures showed up fine. I'm uploading the pictures from my phone to photobucket right now. I retook the pictures from my last post with some better light and edited them in. Was able to get more detail out of the picture. Let me know if you still have trouble seeing any images and I will reformat them when I'm near my laptop again. Thanks for making me aware of that

Its no worries, some of us are slackers and browse at work, and a lot of our work computers have fancy/crappy webpage blocking software. So Photobucket and stuff doesn't work for some of us.

I do like red, though after painting Blood Angels and Eldar (Sam Whatever) I never want to paint it again.

Well I love to stick it to the man, so I will make sure future photos aren't inhibited by rediculous content filters.

I'm actually enjoying painting red. It's been forever. Hope that isn't temporary ^^

Red is an interesting choice. I have to say that I approve. But then, I would, eh

Faces, ah, thin paints and patience. And a thin brown wash to reveal all the details before you start painting.

Might feel free to use other colors as well depending on the contrast you're going for. I know some people used watered down purple and blue washes when they're doing the definition on faces. Feel free to experiment a little.

Red wasn't my first choice, but I am glad I decided to go with it. It's a nice break from all the white I am painting on my Space Marines.
And thanks for the pointers. The photo quality makes it hard to tell but I have added two washes to her skin tone to darken it. I plan on lightening it up to a more porcelain skin tone.

I'm not painting her skin how I usually do. Typically I start with a red or purple base and layer watered down flesh tones over it. For her I just started with a base of tan, specifically Karak Stone. I will probably do a mix of watered down purple and tan to add some extra contrast, but I am also being careful not to get to many layers and lose the exquisite details. If that happens I am not afraid to dip the mini and start over, much easier with pewter

Hope to have more to show soon, though I am focusing on my 'Sons of Amar' Space Marines for now. Really hoping to play a game of 40k soon and I would like a mostly painted army

Cheers
