Hi folks, I'm thinking of putting together a 4*4 table with an Aztec/Mayan sort of feel. The centre of the table will be dominated by a decently sized, semi-ruined pyramid/sacrificial altar with a raised walkway leading to it from one of the table edges, but my issue is sourcing suitable parts to make the smaller terrain pieces. I figure I have some of the oold 40k buildings (the jungle ruins themed ones) that will do well for some of the smaller structures, but I'd also like to throw in some clumps of jungle plants and overgrown fallen statues that fit the theme to provide a variety of LOS blockers, and light/heavy cover of varying heights.

Does anyone have any suggestions that might work for this? Essentially I'm going for the ruined remains of a city hidden deep in the jungle feel. Pre-fab stuff would be helpful, and I still need to source some 8-10" pillars to support the walkway.

Oh man I have lots of stuff, suveneers from many Mexico trips. Depending on time and effort I would Google images of chitzen itza, coba, and tulum and build some of the smaller buildings. Have you looked at hirst art yet? They may have something

I was hoping to avoid a huge hirstarts casting session, but it's looking a lot like that will be my best bet for pillars in the size I'll need them.

Or... you could take Holiday in Mexico and bring back lots of terrain pieces from the local shops

I second cake pillars. Some craft stores like Michael's (US) carry all sorts of different sizes. There's also cool things in the craft stores as well that might work. Dollar stores might also some interesting things too. Souvenirs etc.

One place though for ruins/jungle trees - Pet shops. Aquarium section. Amazon pet area has some things like that too.

Also check out thrift stores.

I am not a fan of having a fixed terrain setup for eternity, I prefer modular ones than are different every game.

Here two Aztec inspired terrain pieces:

Oh man, cake pillars. That's perfect!

Regarding the perma-setup, it's a table to play Dark Age on, so while there will be an element of manouverability to the pieces (like some based ruins and bushes/trees), there's much more scope for every game to be completely different simply due to the style of the gameplay compared to, for example, 40k.The advantage of having some elements fixed in place is that I can play with height levels a lot more, while keeping them secure and stable.

These suggestions and links are a huge help by the way guys - Thanks!
