Hey, I've never really been a 40k player but do have a bunch of figures I bought off a guy some years back, after seeing all the Tempestus Militarum stuff coming out it's got my interested in maybe actually trying the game out with a proper army. So I started sifting through my figures, mostly a mix of Cadians and Catachans, with an entirely unreasonable number of vox casters and flamers, seriously, I have like fifteen of each. Most figures and weapons I could identify, but there's a few I have no idea what they are, and I was hoping to get some info on them. I might end up trading most of the oddball pieces and the Catachans to get some vehicles, more Cadian stuff, so finding out if any of them have any value for trade would also be nice.

Identified most of the stuff I have, including some odd one offs (Steel Legion officer, half a squad of Valhallans, etc) but I have a bunch of figures I can't identify. I'm going to go sign up on one or more 40k forums but figured I'd ask here first, at least about a few.

First up, I have two guys with berets, one is metal with a Plasma gun I think, the other is plastic with a generic rifle of some kind and a rucksack, not sure if he actually is a 40k figure...

A chubby Cadian with a shotgun

This guy, currently missing an arm

I have two of these guys, my first thought was some kind of Tallarn, armed with a bolter (he's metal)

I have six of these guys with varying armaments, they're plastic

I also have ten metal catachans, are these just an older line of models before the plastic ones I guess? Also a female catachan with a grenade launcher.

Lastly I have a dozen metal figures that look sort of Cadian, but not the same as the rest of the Cadians, and the vox caster doesn't have the big antenna with the ring, I'm guessing these are maybe another older metal line of Cadians?

The first two are 2nd edition stormtroopers.
Next is a 2nd Ed Cadian officer.
Vindicare Assassin
Goliath gangers from Necromunda
Metal catachans. The female trooper was a little less common than the others... May have been a Web exclusive, but don't remember for sure.
And the last guys are 2nd Ed Cadians..

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Missed the link in the middle - 2nd Ed Tallarn officer.

Never doubt Insaniak's knowledge of obscure miniatures.

Everything I say, barring quotes and researched information, is my personal opinion. Not fact.

Not really, no. Most of them were still available up until fairly recently.

I think the stormtroopers have been unavailable for a while, but they suffer from being ugly.

The female catachan is the only uncommon miniature in the bunch, and even she isn't really all that rare.

Tallarn guy with a bolter is a tallarn guy with a bolter.
2nd ed IG.
Specifically Tallarn desert raider lt with a boltgun.

Back in 2nd ed, all of the named regiments (mordians, catachans, cadians, tallarn, pretorians) were metal figures. This is why he's metal.

2nd picture are both stormtroopers (2nd ed). The guy on the left (hotshot lasgun) was available in a slightly less detailed plastic clip together model as well as metal. Special weapons tended to be metals.
