Subject: Jackals Random blog: Just about anything and everything to do with never ending projects.
I need a blog to get me motivated with this Long story short, GW have been lacking a Ku'gath model since it was 1st in a book.
I now want to make one for a challenge, however, i plan on it being rather large compared to a regular GUO.
Also, rather than a host of nurglings carrying him into battle (will be far too heavy) i plan on giving him a huge plague beast that will carry the palanquin for him.
Only a few real quick pics to start with.
Just have the main floor done of the palanquin, got his throne roughly to shape, and started adding to an old sculpt of mine over some random bits of plastic and metal which will act as a rough armature.
So at the moment its very rough (no legs from knees upwards, no face, no arms etc etc)
The beast is only very rough at the moment, so nothing worth of pics just yet, however, it is on an arachnarok base, so will be bloody big!
So, for now:
So there it is so far, just a very basic structure to add to and work from with all my essential posing parts.
Need to get as much done tonight as i can though as i want him finished by the weekend.
However, my sculpting really isnt up to any standards.

Actually managed to get some work done and its starting to take a bit more shape.
He now has a lower half anyway, so atleast its something.
Also tinkered with a few bits:
Upper and lower gums with teeth: (im gak at sculpting, so easier for me to make them on a base, then put them in place and blend them in)
Eye: Again, on a base, also not finished as i have to add in the eye lid once its on the model:
Rough mock-up of his glaive like weapon.
Again, still just a basic design for now until i can work on it more.
Book with stand: Nowhere near finished, just the rough stand and cover so far.
Needs a ton of details, including pages:
Also, while bad quality, this shows some of the stuff in my painting que currently, thus my lack of motivation haha:
And thats about it for now, will try and keep this updated atleast a few times a week C&C welcome as always.

Bit of an update, but not much.
Finally have his hands sorted out after alot of issues.
They look pretty chunky at the moment, but both arms still need alot of bulking up.
Wanted the hands fitted before i did too much to his arms though so i knew roughly what bulk was needed on the arms.
Everything is still rough though and needs alot adding to it / removing from it.
Just want the entire model done before i start changing things too much.
Darth bob - Thanks Ive just had another tinker and started beefing up the arms a bit more.
Seems to make the hands look alot more like they actually belong there I wanted them to be large, in keeping with everything from GW, but not so large they seemed out of place.
Arms will also be having wrist bands and shoulder guards added later on with a bit of chainmail here and there, so should bulk out even more yet.
Literally just got his left army nearly done (bit more plus armour and details)
Left arm was just the forearm bulked up a bit more (had some GS left over)
Also, he now has a face!
Granted, its just a skeleton build so far, but has the essentials for building around.
Also, relax, he wont be keeping those huge bug eyes Im terrible at making eyes, so ive found i can do it this way, then sculpt the actual eye smaller, around the orbs.
Will make the eyes look alot smaller than they are now, but most of all, will keep them looking smooth and also, in place and level haha.
So, thus far: (and im almost out of GS too so just placed an order)
So yea, hes getting there slowly.
Atleast now i have a frame work for the head i can add horns once its dry.
That way when i add another layer i can incorporate those horns into the flesh alot easier.
May seem like a weird way of doing things, but works for me
At this point I'd be done and paint him with one of those giant foam hands sold at ballgames .
Amazing work jackal , keep the updates coming, but buy some rat traps will you? First you leave stuff out to mold and fester then you wind up with all those mice .

Subject: Re:Jackals Random blog: Sculpting/scratch building a Ku'gath model (king size) Plus skaven army WiP.
I now have the strange idea of giving each skaven unit champion a giant foam hand for some unknown reason
Also, a friend just saved me a bit.
The saw this and saw i was nearly out of GS, so they are dropping me off 6 roll's of milliput tomorrow Atleast i can use that to start getting his beast started so i have something to carry him.
Tomorrow though i want to have it fully bulked out and more work on the head.
Aiming for a nearly finished sculpt by the end of sunday at the moment.
Will have to start detailing the glaive too at some point since it looks far too bare.
Also, theres fateweaver, a lord of change and a bloodthirster to add to the model list, but they are soaking in acetone at the moment to strip off the old paint.
Both birdies were old paint jobs im no longer happy with and the thirster was £5 from ebay, because it was plastered in paint.
So far this is his 3rd soak and he is close to bare metal again
Got bored so finally started putting paint on this, with just a fine detail brush.....
Also, since dakka has very artistic tenancies, i decided to upload my tattoo's as part of my blog now.
They are very artistic and another ongoing project of mine, just on my body.
But for sake of saving space, ill throw them in a spoiler.
So, Tattoo's update aswell:
Spoiler:
Top right arm:
Top left arm: (outer)
Top left arm: (inner)
Leg (calf)
Shin: (front)
Shin: (side)
And finally, Chest: (still red after being done)
Like my work, my tattoo's are ongoing projects too, so i try to keep those updated as often as possible aswell Ill be happy once ive had a bit more shading on my chest and my leg wrap finished though.
Oh, and for lulz, blue hair and ink because, well, i dont really have a reason i guess
