Horus Lupercal Master of Mankind. First Among Equals. Primarch of the Sons of Horus

"And so I shall deal with all Tyrants and Deceivers..."

It's easy (well, easier) to paint these model as the sculpt is so superb. The emotion is already there, the movement and the character is developed. All the artist has to do is stay faithful to sculpt and you cannot go wrong. Horus was incredibly pleasurable to paint as I started re-living parts of the 40K history. I remembered the first time I learned of the Heresy and the long shadow this Primarch cast over the universe. Very few models have such an evocative history.

I haven't felt this intimidated by a model since Angron was released. I needed to jump on the initial upsurge of enthusiasm and just paint him without fear. I hope you like the result.

If you would like to see more photos and a little run through of the colour combination I used please check out my blog and for WIP work check out the facebook page.

Very impressively done. A worthy paint job for such a legendary character.

Wow. So when I first saw the Horus model in the FW thread, I was thinking "Yeah, that's pretty good I guess. Looks mostly like the famous HH picture with Horus and the Big E." I wasn't especially excited by it though - he just looked kinda bored and the armor didn't really seem to give him the kind of presence that I would expect of a primarch.

Apparently it was just FW's paint job, because you have absolutely nailed that Horus "atmosphere". Obviously, the armor looks fantastic and the pelt/cape looks rich as real life, but more than that you got the face. The OSL from his armor and the shadowing on the eyes really brings out the character in a phenomenal way. You have a great eye for lighting and colors.

Just excellent work.

I've just started building mine that I picked up at the open day, this is so inspiring. Your armour and colour choices are flawless. Brilliant work.

That's one of your best to date! The cloak is amazing, and the marble effect on the terrain is gorgeous. I would love to know how you did the marble.

Cheers guys! There is a white version up on my Facebook wall (link in first post). But not to fear I will be posting a pic here too - I'm just too wiped out to edit it for the forum right now.

All your support is just fantastic thank you. I wouldn't take half e pleasure in creating these things if it weren't for your enthusiasm.
