I just finished painting this squad of space sharks. (minus the Shark decal which will go one as soon as they arrive from FW). I used the old scheme for them and I will be doing a full army of them! I do quite like the way they came out, though ive heard mixed opinions about them being both monochrome and having green base rims (some hate the green rim and others suggest that i should add some other color to the armor). Both are done by intent and i like the result of both endeavors. I wanted to make a grimier marine with less pageantry but still staying true to 40k and dropping in a dash of old school. Also i should mention, the goal was for each model to take under 4 hours to paint. Save for the Sgt and Plasma Gunner, i succeeded in this goal. Heres the first squad. PS Dont mean to spam my stuff but i just wanted to show it in a forum thats not a pm blog. But you can visit my Pm blog here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/395565.page ... to see more and individual pics of them. Thanks!

So, do you mind sharing your chipping technique? I can pull it off on larger models, but can never make it look right on Marines. Awesome job!

Great work, my only criticism is that not all of the marines have beaky heads. They should all of beaky heads to be space sharks, and Seargents/Veterans should have shark teeth to set them apart.
Edit: If you dont give them all beaky heads, you could always change the name to "Stone Golems" or something, because they look like they are chiseled from stone. Super cool.

Resin Printer (minaitures) is a 4K printer with one of the largest build volumes available for a resin printer (192mm x 120mm x 245mm) with an amazing .01mm resolution! This professional printer is one of the best resin printers on the market!
FDM Printer (terrain) also has one of the largest build volumes available for an FDM printer (400mm x 400mm x 450mm) and has an amazing ,05mm build accuracy.

@ Ryan...thanks and appreciate your valid points. Unfortunately acquiring all Crovus helmets is a task that isnt exactly cheap, and moreover, is time consuming. My personal goal for this army is to have its bulk painted rather quickly. That means keeping things simple, painting wise, and logistically. The other heads though, that might be something to look into. The shark teeth. Thanks for your critique!

Even though I have seen them on your blog I still really like them dude! nothing wrong with monochrome marines at all, mine are pretty much just red! :-) not every chapter needs to be vainglorious and in yo face!
you've certainly got the gritty look down to an art with just those boys, seriously good looking marines and I think you should be proud and show them to anyone who will look! green base rim, eh! I don't mind either way but probably would have chosen a more olive green for it to suit the force.
well done Chadlance!
