As the title states... who is your favorite primarch and why?

And yes, I know there's plenty of other races/factions and maybe some dissension and bad feelings towards GWs glorified space marines these days.

Just go back to what you know and let the bad blood go for a question. Tell everyone the one you love.

For me it's Vulkan. I am a hugger, and a real nice guy so I love the story of him helping the civilizations break from the dark eldar grip single handed. That sold me right there. Oh, and fighting dragons alongside the big E was pretty cool too. So much good stuff, the development of the Promethian Cult, the creation of Ashmantle's super cool dreadnought chassis, etc. I also love the way he created the ultimate test for his chapter to find all those artifacts to bring him back (and to see the chapter use the discovered relics to kick it). Genius! Which may be one of the coolest things for a fluffy guy like me, knowing that eventually, somewhere down the line he'll be back to help end it all.

I would have to say, I don't know a whole lot about Vulkan, but on the whole what I do know I like. He and Roboute seem the most sane and level headed of all of the primarchs.

The fact they care about humans, the role of the space marine in interacting with humans, lack of a bombastic nature, etc. makes me like them.

If I had to pick between the two I'd pick Roboute, even if the Ultramarines aren't my favorite chapter. He's a great pastiche of various historical Roman leaders, has a very level head, thinks about things from all angles, has no overriding pride or hubris (he has his chance in Unremembered Empire, on at least 3 occasions, and completely refuses it at every level), cares about the long term, etc.

He's the one who most strikes me as possessing 'general' qualities (Dorn is to stubborn and prideful).

After Angel Exterminatus I'm torn between Perturabo and Fulgrim. Perturabo's reasons for joining the traitors are understandable and sympathetic, which makes him more interesting than most of the others.

Fulgrim, on the other hand, is an idiot who didn't so much fall as bungee jump into corruption with both eyes wide shut, but he gets my vote for being so entertaining in an I, Claudius kind of way.

Magnus is pretty sweet. He did go toe to toe with Bjorn. That was an epic battle. He does get complacent and over-confident though, often to the point of forgetting he's a primarch.

Some honorable mentions would definitely be Lorgar, Khan, and Horus.

Magnus the Red. BECAUSE HE WAS RIGHT. Magnus was the one traitor Primarch who was entirely justified in turning traitor. He got unfairly censored, and had his legion nearly suffered genocide for the "crime" of trying to warn the Emperor about Horus. Who'd you cheer for at the burning of Prospero? I know I wasn't cheering for the Space Furries.

Big Red. He might be arrogant and stubborn, but he's so fething POWERFUL and wise. He has such noble goals of spreading knowledge and bringing about an age of science and learning that I would love to see here on earth in the real world.

He did become pretty emo for a bit, lets be honest. And he only did the battle of the fang in an effort to stop the SWs growth in an act of martyrdom. He didn't really expect much of his legion to survive the BoTF

What do you mean he did'nt make excuses ? Magnus after the burning of Prospero still points out the faults of others while hiding his own. Something which Lorgar verbally bitchslapped him for.

Lorgar. From self-doubting, well-meaning weakling to archpriest of chaos absolute.

From gentle scholar to magnificent bastard setting Ultramar on fire and converting half of his brothers into daemonic princelings.

I like how he is at once the most human and emotive of the primarchs and yet also the one whose plans are the most grandiose and cruel. And his explanation on why Sanguinius would never fall to chaos shows him to be a much better psychologist than his dad.

In Boxing matches, you actually get paid to take a dive and make the other guy look good.

In Warhammer 40K, you're expected to pay cash out of your pocket for the privilege of having Marines and IG trample all over your Xenos/Chaos.

I've probably fallen behind on my Primarch knowledge due to not really following the HH series. However, from what I do know, I'll go with Guilliman. I like that as well as being a great warrior, he was also a great statesman who made some good contributions to shaping the Imperium as it is in its present.

Shame he got put out of action, really. The Imperium would really benefit from him still being in play. Maybe only second to Big E himself coming back.

Kurze, He loyally did exactly what his dad told him to do and instead of being told "Good Boy" his dad sent assassins. He never turned to chaos, but at least the traitors werent trying to kill him for following orders. In the end he was proven correct.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs

In Scars he admits to Jaghatai that it was his fault Prospero fell, and while he does point out failures in others most of them are correct.

Wondering Why the Emperor Left

I'm torn.
I am so torn.
I love Khorne, but hate Angron. Just HATE the character so Warp-damned much.
I like Alpharius and Omegon, the idea of not knowing if you're speaking with a primarch or one of their legionaires. But not my favourite primarch(s).
I have recently fallen in love with the DA and NL legions, the Lion's and Curze's personal war. So I voted for both of them.

I like Angron really, sure his name sounds dumb. But his whole story is quite brutal. Hell he had the best reason to betray the emperor. His army of gladiators was left to be slaughtered by the emperor by teleporting Angron out of the battle at last minute. How about drop a few legionaries down to give a hand?
He is a moody bastard and as a person I don't like him. But when you consider what he went through, as well as the nails hammered into his skull, you can't really fault him for it. Plus his legion kicks ass!

Keep in mind that the implants literally prevent Angron from dealing with what happened in a positive way. It's hard to get over anything when your brain is constantly being flayed raw, your intellect is being damaged and you are being reminded every day that you are the last of your brotherhood.

Sanguinus. Flying psychic mutant angel-- the most heroic of all the Primarchs, and one of, if not the most ded'ard of all of them in a punch-up. I wonder what would have happened if the emperor came back dead from the Vengeful Spirit and Sanguinus came back alive. Maybe the wrong guy died up there.

Edit- also the most pimptastic. The flowing hair, the angel wings, the giant snow leopard pelt. There's a reason every SOB convent has about a million posters of him on the walls, I'm guessing.
