Bounding Assault Marine

I like the concept of the Vindicare Assassin, but I'm not sure if burning 300 points is worth it to ally him in. I was thinking about something.like this:
Inquisitor (not sure about how to kit him out)
5-man Grey Knight squad
Vindicare Assassin
usually I run Dark Angels, either tacticals or Ravenwing. I do like my snipers, and I tend to use them well. just not sure if the alliance is worth the Turbo penetrator or Shieldbreaker...
thoughts?

you automatically lose points for using the trite gamer-isms: balanced, meta, Mat Ward, etc. |

It's a pretty high price to pay if all you want is the Assassin. After all, if you're dropping all those points just to get him, those points (spent on a naked Inquisitor and basic 5-man squad) are getting you almost nothing in return.
What point level are you playing at?

1850-1999 is our typical points for tourneys. and, unfortunately, we rarely get together for fun.

In that case, let me put it to you like this, is the Vindicare worth 15% of your points?

I'm currently looking at the following allied detachment for my 1850 list:
Coteaz
3 Henchmen (3 Jokaeros)
Vindicare.
I'm also doing an Imperial Bunker with quadgun, void shield, and ammo store upgrades to protect the vindicare (and monkeys) but pure GK is just the above 3 units.
To address Curran12's question about the assassin being worth it - some games he has been, others he hasn't. Dice gods are fickle when you need a 4+ to wound - however, ensuring he has a 2+ rerollable to hit and ability to intercept thanks to the emplaced quadgun(and fire the rifle the following turn still) has been arguably more effective than trying to use the Shield Breaker or Turbo-Penetrator rounds on a few games. Add in the issus the assassin has with Cover Saves (why can the master assassin miss his mark because a leaf or twig get in the way?) and mileage will vary.
When the dice are hot, he's amazing and worth every point. When they are cold though, he's just a ball of disappointment.

Paying that many points because you want just the assassin is just silly. Even going bare-bones Coteaz and 3 warrior acolytes, you're almost doubling the cost of the Vindicare. Not worth it.

Posted this in another thread:
Vindicare has an 82.8% chance of penning AV14 with a single shot (includes hit and penetration roll), which becomes a 41.4% chance to explode it. He has (as far as I know) the most powerful non-destroyer anti-tank gun.
Here's the deal though: Even if you put him in 4+ cover, he's as easy to kill as 2 iron hands tactical marines. He is a glass cannon in every sense of the word.

He's fun, but, will get killed right quick. Coteaz is a great bonus on his own, and I love space monkeys as part of a fire base with coteaz, plasma henchmen and bullet pillow guys (base henchmen), but not being able to take two, and his only 36" range means he'll get picked off quick

I would recommend Coteaz and a henchman squad with acolyets and 3 plasma cannon servitors, maybe add in a space monkey if you want. This way you have a scoring unit that has some good fire power plus the bonuses Coteaz brings.
With my GK I combine the vindicare with a tech marine so I can bolster defences to get the vindicare a 2+ or 3+ cover save. I don't know if dark angels have tech marines that have the bolster defences rule but it is a great way to increase the survivability of your vindicare and not many people like wasting shots on a 2+ cover. If dark angles don't have tech marines that do then you could bring a GK one with your allies but that is another 90 pts investment for a 1 wound model.
