What's up guys, so I'm sitting here with a terminator squad looking at bland white helmets and it just doesn't do it for me. I tried using a watered down black an then dry brushing back over with white but that didn't work out as planned. Thought about washing them in seraphim sepia but not too sure. They are ultra marines so even ran the thought of doing a blue highlight like the armor was reflecting off the white. I'm in front of a creative brick wall and I need pink Floyd to help break it down Any thoughts or suggestions?
P.s. Please let someone have the name Pink Floyd on here and respond that would make my day lol just a thought.

Pink floyd here under the user name Capamaru...
Blue is the way to go... Careful application of either ink/wash will create a nice effect on something small as a helmet.
Here is a model where I applied blue to create something like a shadow effect on white (since the surface was big I used an airbrush)
Just remember that with white and black less is more. It is very easy to ruin black and white if you over do it so go easy and add more wash layers as you go.

All I can say about painting is that VMC tastes much better than VMA... especially black...

Light blue-greys work well too. Something like Fenrisian Grey.

Yeah, basecoat, the fang, and blend up through fenrisian grey then white.
Keep your paint thin and build up the layers.
Or for a quick job white basecoat, watered down asurmen blue wash, reinstate the white.

Vallejo make a 'Pale Grey' wash that works well on white for a neutral tone shade. I've only used it a couple of times, you can see the effect on this Rhino:

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.” |

As above, Vallejo pale grey wash is quicker and easier than blending up from white and gives good results. As someone whose marines have white as a joint primary colour, this wash was a God-send.

These are all examples of cool whites. Warm whites would be done using browns greens and greys. I like the p3. Take on white myself. Menoth White Base, highlighted with Menoth White Highlight and Marrow White. Shading is done with Cryx Bane Highlight, Badtion Grey and Thornwood Green.

Vallejo makes a game collor colled Off White that is so close to white it is hard to tell it isn't, but because it has some pigment it has properties more like a light brown. The pale grey wash they make works wonders with this color and a pure white highlight.
