Hello!

After being an avid Dakkadakka user for about a year (The amount of time I've been into the hobby) I've decided to make a blog.

I have a variety of projects/armies which I intent to model and paint so apologies if there is a lack of fluidity to the posts, but i'll try and keep them relatively grouped.

Anyway, my most recent project has been the converting AOBR Ork's into a blood bowl team. I must state immediately that a lot of the influence came from: http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-55327-32539_Krautscientist%27s%20Greenskins.html, whihc I thought were fantastic conversions.

Anyway, the idea started from two chance meetings. Firstly, my LWGC had just started a Blood Bowl League, and secondly, I saw this in my bits box:

I decided to convert an Orc team rather than using the '96 set from the game or the metal ones you could buy (Neither of which i was a fan of aesthetically)

So this became the basis of my team:

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Blitzers. I used the heads from the Burnas sprue and also gave all of them the gloved arm, for a bit of unity. The shoulder pads are actually one of the Burna masks!

Black Orc Blockers. They were Nobs, had a few issues with the stikk Bombs etc, but I just added Legion of Doom style mega shoulder pad spikes! I also had a few Ogre fists left over which made for decent bashing gloves.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Linemen. The linemen were just regular Ork boyz with a few random bitz added on. I didn't want them to have too much consistency, as i wanted the feel that they were really just filler roles, but they all have a face-guard across their helmets.

Thrower. The thrower is my personal favourite. He's from a nob set, which has a Bigchopper. I repositioned the arm, gave him a Burna arm, which looked like it was 'guiding' the throwing arms and then sculpted a GS hand for the ball to rest in. By no means perfect but i think it came out alright.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The team (Without the goblin, he hadn't arrived yet)

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Base coated with a light wash.

Thrower close up.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Final finished team. I added a white line to each grass base, as i thought i looked a bit like pitch markings.

Backs. Wish I'd done a better job at putting the player numbers on in hindsight, but they can always be redone.

Lots of fun converting these, wasn't too hard, and although i think the chipping effect on the shoulders and armour is a bit OTT, I like the look of the overall.

On an even more positive note, I won my first game 2-0 against Lizardmen!

Ah great cheers!

Now for some 40k Goodness. Here are my HQ choices for my Bad Moons.

Warboss. Not delighted with my attempt at the OSL on the wall and the green ooze doesn't look 'toxic' enough, or like a liquid, but I'll try a few new techniques next time. In particular, looking forward to trying a wet palette.

And here's the Big Mek, complete with KFF. Still need practice on giving the 'Power weapon' look to objects.

Love it all. I seriously need to make a blood bowl team, I've heard it's great fun

Love it all

Thanks!

Here are a few snaps of a looted wagon i made for the Bad Moons, It's an Old Chaos Rhino, With, in essence a huge Mork/Gork head on the top acting as the Boomgun.

Not delighted with the final weathering on the looted wagon, but overall I feel it's defiantly Orky enough.

I have recent been mesmerised by this thread: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/394107.page which is quite simply stunnin work in my opinion.
Anyway with the release of the Clan Raukaan, I had bought a few Space marines, with the intent of starting an Iron hands Army.
However after seeing Meade's fantastic work i have been inspired (A.K.A I will rip off his superb ideas! ) for a Dark Mechanicus Army. I plan to scratch build alot of the army, and convert the rest.

I plan on planing them as 'counts as Chaos space Marines'.

Chaos Obliterator:

Chaos Rhino:

Rhino with a CSM for scale:

SCM with a scratch Built servo harness:

Squad so far:

Coming next...The Forgefiend.

The Forgefiend...

This started as a Gluegun and wireframe model. To be honest I am not entirely sure how/where it will go but it will have a lot of Tattered cloth and tubing. O h and two massive Hades Auto cannons.

Wire Frame:

Tubing Base:

1st cloak:

Auto Cannons:

Progress so far.

Obviously not yet complete. The head will be a skull 'Mask' which will hide a greenstuff brain (Currently its bluetack). The backpack will 'fit' properly flush onto the model, with tubing connecting it to the Autocannons, and will probably have a few more pipes. The chest will be filled out with some electrical looking circuits and, you guessed it, more pipes. I'm also thinking about a few servo harnesses.

Let me know any tips with the greenstuff or alternative ideas people have

A quick update.

Here is the Forgefiend, the model itself is finished, but obviously needs painting. The black primed pictures don't look great, but i think I need to work on my photography skills

Mechanicus has been on hold for a bit and with the pending release of the new Orks i wanted to finish off some models I had unpainted!

And here's an imperial Bunk i made at work!

With Psychics getting their own phase in 7th, I am quite excited to try out a Weirdboy in my future 40K games. However, I don't have a model and to be honest I am not a huge fan of the GW one. So I thought I'd try an convert one. He's quite WHF Shaman-esque, but i've balanced that by sticking him on a junk heap! The Ork glyph is intended to be a mask but I am not 100% delighted with it.Hopefully under coated and painted over the next few days.

This is some really amazing stuff. I absolutely love the Forgefiend and I can't wait to see it painted, especially considering how well you have painted everything else.
As for the face of the Ork Weirdboy, I would suggest either putting a ring around the GS eye, or recede it a bit. Apart from that he looks really good.

Agreed, I ditched the eye off, the Weirdboy is now finished, the OSL isn't great, I have a lot to work on with that technique it's really a step up from my skill level.

Much like Al pacino in Godfather III (Not at all actually, now i think about it) 40K, Orks especially, seems to pull me back in when I don't expect it. I'd tried to convert AOBR Nobs to Meganobz before but the results were quite dreadful, so I just shelved the idea. Then last week I saw a post somewhere about attempting it and I thought I'd give it another crack.
Nearly all scratch built, except the head and a few engine type bits on the back. Tube-tool FTW.

Does this count as a necro'd thread?

Anyway, been reasonably busy working on some Malifaux stuff, but as usual still keeping a keen interest in 40k.

So i started a GK army. Low model count means I can try some new things and spend a bit more time on each model.

The beginning:

Ah, Necromancy. This will be the last time. I promise...

A well overdue update of my armies and projects will hopefully recommence. Here is the near conclusion of the Grey Knight force I started well over a year ago.

For a long time Malifaux has generally been my 'main' game(the system I've invested the most time and money into anyway). here are a few pics of my Gremlin crew and some of my favorite models.

I've started on portable Malifaux table too! pics coming soon.

I decided that my next project will be a Grot only army! By no means original in theme but hopefully it'll be a lot of fun to scratch build and convert Grot tanks, Mek gunz and HQ choices!
Here's my first Grot Tank effort:
