So if I had one squad of Bullgryns directly behind another squad of Bullgryns, would that grant a +3 cover save to people behind them?

how does the rule read exactly?

Slabshield: Model gains +1 to armour save if in base contact with 1 or more models with Slabshields from the same unit. Futhermore if a target (friend or foe) is partially obscured from the firer's view by at least 1 model with a Slabshield it recieves +1 to its cover save.

sounds awful fishy to think the cover modifiers will be stacked.

good catch. otherwise, one could pile up one large squad and get a 2+ cover.

Generally special rules do not stack unless they state they do.
