Kitbashing/Converting the Skylanders 'Prism Break' figure into a 'Living Metal' SM Dreadnought and/or alternate Necron Heavy Destroyer

I had until recently dismissed all things Skylanders as juevenile junk. Imagine my surprise when one struck me first as 'kinda cool' then hitting me again as fitting both the backstory and theme of my Tomb Kings Legion of tech-savvy SMs? Espeicially the Big RED Crystals in its hands & shoulders! As luck has it i also got a really good deal on Rustoleum Textured finishes to paint with

Besides the addition of Imperial & Tomb Kings iconography and purity seals, how much weponry should i add vs. having it's crystals represent the weapons?

Googling that gives some very... odd results.

To spare everyone else.

I'm not entirely sure how you got "Dreadnought" and/or "Necron" from that, but with a certain amount of work it could fit depending on how the rest of your army looks.

I don't think you could get anything Necron or SM from that. Maybe Chaos.

My little cousins collect this stuff. They get a kick out of it but I always think they look like McDonalds Happy Meal toys.

I guess I don't harbour the vision you have for this conversion but I can't see how you are going to pull this (convincingly) into the 40K universe.

This all said... I'm eager to see your results, so good luck!

Actually, the ones i got are the McDonald's one.

I was originally just going to take the torso apart, paint & reassemble. Now i'm thinking of bits to add, weapons and icons, then painting. I have a nice Metallic Black Rustoleum and i was thinking i'd mix a Red Ink wash with some gold paint in it for a Liquid Metal that fits my SM Legion's color sheme.

My Legion and the sector they call home, is technically still a 'Dark Age of Technology' because the are a human population that understands science & tech. The Legion's Techmarings & Scribes/Librarians have been reverse-engineering Eldar and Necron tech, for ages, as they consider ALL tech the Emperor's gift to them.

It's a rock... Monster.... in fact these things helped Noah build the ark in the new movie (I wish I was joking)... Unless you're a wiz with sculpting I don't see this working well unless you've made your Necrons all rocky and !@#$... OMG I WANNA DO THIS NOW! Fossilized necrons!

That model is far too chibi for me to take seriously, even with heavy converting.

Ummm...

Yeah, I don't see it. Don't want to rain on your parade but that just looks too over the top ridiculous to fit with anything 40k.

I could see Skaven using it if you painted the gems green and called them voidstones... and if it was brown... and not rocks... Some sort of huge Filth Beast

Got some Imperium bits from a Venerable Dreadnought and some nice 60mm bases with lots of gears that fits the 'gearhead' aspect of the Legion. I plan to get more bits of Imperium & Tomb Kings iconography and some purity seals and odd Dreadnought bits to embellish them before I repaint the bodies. What i'll be trying to achieve is Dreadnoughts that are made of Necrodermis which contains the elements/alloys of the original Dreadnoughts' Adamantium skin. I'm thinking the shoulder crystals would be (effectively) a Gauss/Tesla weapon that functions as the Missile Launchers of the Dreadnoughts and the big crystal hands are both ranged energy weapons (either Lascannons or Plasma) and as 2 Powerfists, with ranged weapons built into the arms.

Won't have much time around work schedule, but i'll try to figure out how to use my digital camera w/o my comp, or use my housemates to get it set up.
