I've heard people mention chaos renegades IG a few times and was wondering if they had their own rules in a specific book or I just need to use the IG codex as allies?

The closest thing you'll find are the Chaos renegade lists in Siege of Vraks.

Which isn't very competetive but it's better than nothing.

Run the IG book and counts as. As a gaunts ghosts fan and a guard player fighting against traitor guard is something I always want to do.

Thanks for the pointer! I don't fancy a big standard IG army!
Competitiveness isn't the most important thing for me I just play for fun and to have cool models!

I'm just about to start building my traitor guard army. My plan is to kinda alternate between which book I'm gonna use, Codex AM and IA vol.7 (the nurgle one). Everything I build will be useable in both lists.

The IA list is really cool. It has nowhere near the options as the regular guard codex, but has some really cool stuff. You can take chemical shells for your mortars (+2 poison,), preachers and psykers of Nurgle. The coolest thing though is that it lets you take a Plague Marine Champion as an HQ, and Plague Marine units as Elites.

It's just a really cool, fluffy army list. My army is going to have lots of mortar teams, medusas, a demolisher, one day a stormsword. All kinda siegey stuff.

It also lets me slowly build up my planned Death Guard Army, painting up Plague marines when I can, and adding them to the Renegade list as I go.

I'm also about to build a traitor guard army.

I actually like the Crimson Slaughter book and thought it'd be a great idea to run some Daemons and IG with them. Just waiting on the Cadian Defense Force to be released.
