So, I'm looking to start collecting an Astra Militarum (aka Imperial Guard) army. For a color scheme I'm really digging the new Militarium Tempestus Scions. I'm strongly considering using it for my entire force. So, my question is from a fluff standpoint is this color scheme only reserved for the Scions? The only thing that makes me question that it is is the fact that the Bullgryns are portrayed as wearing the same scheme. Keep in mind I haven't decided to drop the $50 to get the Militarum Tempestus codex so the only information I've got access to is in the Astra Militarum one.

Krieg! What a hole...

What, the teal scheme? Ah no, everyone and their mother can use it, there are plenty of alternate schemes in the book, too.

Individual Guard units do not typically use color schemes as heraldry. Typically their uniforms and armor colors change to suit the planet they will be fighting on. Though, often they will not receive the correct uniforms in time. I would imagine that MT Scions are the same though why a professional army (Besides the Space Marines) would wear bright red is beyond me.

Well goody. I really like the blue color scheme and I'm planning on painting up an Imperial Guard force trying to masquerade as Napoleonic French troops. The current Scions already look like it so I just need to paint my standard troops to match. I was tempted to buy the Militarum Tempestus codex but even at $40 for the digital edition it's a little too rich for my blood just for some fluff.

You do get access to formations with it so it's not THAT much of a rip off. Could always try ebay.
