I am going to buy the AM codex soon, and am debating on whether to buy the cards or not. I know the orders are all on one page in the AM codex, so keeping a bookmark there can easily allow you to flick it open during a game.

But with the amount of orders being given (3 for CCS, 1 for PCS I think and 1 (?) for tank commander) , placing a card in front of each ordered unit might be useful in remembering it later. Do you use the cards or are the orders easy to remember?

Then again, there is only one of each card, so if you issue two of the same orders, you wont have the cards lol.

I picked up a pack on pre-order and had thought of ordering more but I cannot find them available anymore :(

I might just photocopy the ones I have for the case of multiple order. Or get specific coloured D10s and place them next to the relevant units.

They're a nice extra if you like the visual cue, but they're by no means necessary. So 'worth it' comes down to how much you like those sorts of extras.

Definitely don't think it's worth it. If I had trouble remembering orders, I'd print them. As it is, they're bookmarked in my pdf so can be accessed quickly on my tablet during games. (Format shifting is legal in Australia, not sure about Austria.)

I dunno, I like the cards. I've been buying them all because they're cheap enough to justify as an impulse buy and they're nice to have..and yes, because they're limited. They really shouldn't be, though. Makes about as much sense as limited edition templates or limited edition armies.

Do they contain tank orders as well?

Like psychic powers, they are handy to place on the units you cast/order, so you know what units are doing what.

They're exactly what they are intended to be - a handy reference to keep on your table should you want to check your options without having to remember or shuffle through your Codex. They serve the same purpose as the psychic powers cards and.. magic cards from WFB, which are very wide-spread here. Everyone loves WFB spell cards, so I guess the orders can see some use on the tables here.

I got mine to put me over the free shipping mark and frankly dont regret it. One of the few good things I have got from GW besides my codex.

Not as useful as the magic spell cards for fantasy but still handy to have. I see on E bay people are selling them for 25 US, they are available in NZ for pretty cheap still... tempted to sell them for profit haha.

Why not make some yourself? I made spell cards for my beloved Goblins all on my own and some Photoshop magic, printed and laminated them - and people at tournaments keep asking me where you could buy those

I like being able to set them to the side, and pick one when the time comes around.
But, you don't have to lay them by the unit, as it's an instant effect.
What you might want to get is 'Was Ordered' and 'Has Ordered' markers. Place the Was marker near a unit that was made to do something, and a Has by the command unit that issues the order. The cards don't do that.

What the cards don't do is fit in anything else, like the Psychics cards box, nor the Lasgun magazine boxes the objective dice come with.

I agree I have no idea why any of the magic, psychic and such cards that GW make are limited edition. People like me who have card collecting issues (so many Fantasy Flight Games cards) would eat that stuff up if it were readily available. I think it has a lot to do with them wanting to cut costs and entice people to buy the iPhone app where you can get everything on there.

Almost all the orders take immediate effect. You issue the order and immediately make a shooting attack, doesn't require much remembering of buffs/debuffs, unlike psychic powers. I just mark units with washers or pennies to remember that they have some buff.

I sure wouldn't buy them! I love cards, but I'd do the same thing I did for my Ethereal's invocations, just print out the ability and effects on label paper and then stick it to index cards. Helped me remember that 6+ FNP many many times. No clue how many times I forgot to roll that before I made the cards!
