Hi guys,

We're looking at scenery to stock in the shop, and wondering what people tend to use, and what their opinions of the materials are?

We have focused on Warsenal and PlastCraft to begin with, but would appreciate your input

I'm not terribly fond of the card stuff, it just doesn't have the detail or weight to it that actual terrain should have, but to begin with it seems like exactly the kind of stuff that would be easy to stock an easy to sell as a relatively cheap option for getting a whole table together.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Seeing as you're stocking infinity as one of your main lines, I think you should look to some tree/jungle stuff. Virtually all the infinity 'scenery' you see are swathes of laser cut mdf buildings and containers. Now those are nice too, don't get me wrong but a bit of variation wouldn't go amiss. If you managed to find some it would be good to mock up some dioramas of them, or even better a battle report (if you play).

I cant really think of a huge number or people who make greenery, woodland scenics is one but beyond that... I dont know.

Also misc bits would be good. MDF buildings are everywhere so its not hard to find that from a dozen different outlets, but smaller bits that come under the 'scatter terrain' group are harder to find. I know that Antenocitis workshop does quite a lot of nice stuff in this department, but I also hear their G.O.T range is wrapping up so I'm not sure what's happening atm.

In terms of buildings, Sarissa Precision do a system infinity range of MDF buildings that are cool. I've never seen any other stockists for them however.

This isn't technically scenery but I'll roll with it, civilians. If you could get generic civilian models I'm sure they would move. Again, Antenocitis workshop did them under the G.O.T range but that's finishing. So now they're hard to find.

TLDR Some trees and scatter terrain (vending machines, rubbish bins, benches, planter boxes etc).

In response to materials, if its a building or box sort of thing I would expect MDF. Small scatter terrain, plastic/resin or mdf depending on what it is. I wouldn't by card stuff myself as I actually make a bit out of card... myself.

I agree with rahxephon. The table I'm looking at setting up is sort of a rural colonial settlement. I love the look of the prefab buildings bade by Sarissa Precision http://www.sarissa-precision.co.uk/store/system8/

In addition to that more scatter terrain with lots of intricate detail (that I can't make myself on the cheap) like vending machines, dumpsters (or skips as us Brits call them heh), trees & other vegetation, crates, barrels, oil drums, planters and benches would all provide a bit of extra cover and make places look more believable.

However, the things the market seems to be lacking in (maybe I'm not looking hard enough) are futuristic looking static vehicles. Y'know, not military ones, but civilian vehicles like cars and utility trucks.

There's a dude around here who made a line of civilian futuristic vehicles. Will look around and see if I can find the thread. Not sure how they were retailed though

This was the one:

okay, maybe not that one after reading through it again.

Antenocitis workshop has a kickstarter in the works - with quite a few futuristic people movers.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

Link to the KS please, a google search only pointed to rumours on forums

EDIT: Sorry, I've put 2 and 2 together and by "in the works" I thought you meant it had started, not that they were working up to it.

Still in reserve.

Still planning out a table with an Ariadna outpost theme made up of Dust Tactic's quonset huts, sand bags, forest trees, plenty of rock piles, and oil barrel scatter terrain within the outpost itself and topped off with a radio tower (<-- Still looking for that one)
