Actually, in my area, it is not very well received in friendly games - many feel it is very under costed for what it does.

Note: I did not say if that was true or not, but that is the general consensus of many of the players.

My own personally feeling is they are really cool, but the D weapon is out of place in a model with a 12" move in the normal game.

Thats why I said it was good in friendly games.
Once you get into competitive 40k, with ranged d weapons, knights become meh

We have a warriors code not to use them as an army in my club, because an army of them is just to much by allies can be at least dealed with.

Played against one a few times now, killed it on the 2nd or 3rd turn every time.

Not as Overpowered as I thought they would have been.

To me they rarely make back their points and seem to be about 25-40 points too expensive.

Thing is meh in competitive. It's an odd mess. It's extremely broken against certain armies whilst being a relative ease against others. Can ocassionally need tailoring to counter. Or something like that. Biggest problem I see is probably many didn't even permit it.

I'd actually say they're worse as allies because you can actually fill some of the holes.

I personally don't think Knights are overpowered or anything like that, they just aren't great for the already terrible balance issues in 40k.

If you have decent high-strength shooting they're really easy to deal with. If you rely more on melee to kill heavy armour, good luck dealing with the Str D attacks followed by a Str D explosion...
Poor balance either way, just in different directions.

Costed just about right. If you run more than 2, you push the game to an auto-win or auto-loss situation, just based on the list you play against.

I find one or two fun to play, and fun to play against.

I think this is really the best answer. It's poor balance for the game at large but it's meh as per the competitive meta where high-strength shooting can eassily crush them in enough time. Overall, they become another rock-paper-scissors list.
